If you're the sort of person who is happy to be told on arrival, that the room you booked has been given to someone else, then this is the place for you! We booked, and paid £94 for, a 'Classic' Hotel room on the first floor, over 7 months in advance of our stay, but were given a 'self-catering' 'pet-friendly'... More

we stayed here on sat. 27th sept. we were met by friendly staff at front desk who took our bags in while our room was ready, leaving us free to go to matlock bath. on our return our room was large and had a shower cubicle. everywhere was clean and fresh. a bonus was a park and ride just round... Booked at last minute after reading the reviews. Hugely disappointed as I had booked a deluxe suite last minute for our anniversary. The room is very basic, the very large bathroom had no free standing shower but a bath with a hand held shower unit and no curtain so the floor got soaked. There was a rug at the side... More

Travelling through U.K. From Australia with our adult son we were full of expectation when we arrived, it looked very nice from the outside. Our son said his room in the main building was quite good, but our room in the disabled wing was terrible, very dirty with old filthy carpet tiny beds and windows that opened onto a public... More

We stayed a night here en-route to Yorkshire in August. The staff on the front desk were extremely pleasant and friendly. Couldn't have been more helpful - let my husband use the computer to print off some holiday details we needed and later posted back a sweater we left behind! We will definitely stay there again - it is quirky... More

Booked a couple of nights in September 2014. No lift ,so friendly front desk man helped us carry heavy bags up to first floor. We where in Derbyshire for our daughter's wedding so had lots of baggage. First impressions where ok as hotel in a very pretty location. Our room was large but rather basic. Breakfast offered an option of... More

We have just returned from a visit to this hotel which was a celebration for my parents' 60th wedding anniversary. We stayed in The Cottage as we took our dog Charlie with us and dogs are only allowed on the ground floor. The room was a standard room but was more than adequate and it even had an ironing board... After failing to get a hotel near Bakewell as a diversion on a trip back from Manchester we got a booking here. Was a little uncertain on arrival and particularly when we were taken on a long route to our room down a strange corridor but despite wariness this proved a good stay. Room was large suite, big double with... More

We have just had the most wonderful wedding reception at Alison House for our daughter. The setting, marquee and gardens lent themselves perfectly to what we required. Sharon and her staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating and this all added to the celebrations. It was great too for all the family to be able to stay in the... More

We stayed for two nights Bed and Breakfast. Our room was nicely positioned in a converted stable block, but was rather cramped. Breakfasts and service in general were fine. The House is well positioned away from the busy A6 in its own grounds. It is ideally positioned for a walking break in Gods own county.
