Stayed here yesterday for my birthday and without the kids. A days walking planned in the Peak District with my partner, dog and minus kids. First thing to say is staff friendly and helpful. I think we were one of only two couples booked in the entire buildings. The surroundings are amazing and the building has some great history. As... More

Lovely setting, place and people, but tv and radio in the room don't work. Tried to re tune, but to no avail. Wifi faster than at home, but then we are more in the sticks! Weren't able to offer any eats on a Sunday night, but the boat in Cromford was excellent

Nice hotel, plenty of free parking and great Wi-Fi, my room was large, very clean and comfy bed. This is an older hotel but has character and have to say the staff were excellent really make the difference Food was good, breakfast really nice and cooked to order. The restaurant closes at 8.15pm so just need to be aware if... More

Brilliant place with great staff, very clean, excellent food, would recommend to friends and family, great for walks, lots to do around the place, down to earth staff who couldn't do more for us to be honest.

Stayed here for the night in a room outside of the hotel in a block in the car park. The room was a good size, double which was 2 beds pushed together. Small tv, tea making facilities and a very small bathroom. The room had nice decor and was clean. The bathroom needed revamping the shower blocked whilst in it.... More

We visited Alison House at the end of October 2014. We were allocated The Arkwright Suite, a lovely large room and a bathroom almost as big!!!! The Staff were very friendly, competent and caring with all our needs met. We opted for an evening meal on both nights of our stay and were not disappointed. Breakfasts were adequate and plentiful.... More

We booked a weekend here with some friends to do some walking and visit the Tramway museum. We were allocated the small annex just outside the main building whilst they had a room in it. Very unusually for us we also booked to eat in the restaurant the night we stayed. The annex was lovely and it was good to... More

If you're the sort of person who is happy to be told on arrival, that the room you booked has been given to someone else, then this is the place for you! We booked, and paid £94 for, a 'Classic' Hotel room on the first floor, over 7 months in advance of our stay, but were given a 'self-catering' 'pet-friendly'... More
