OK, so you don't go to a Christan Guild hotel for the furnishings or niceties. I go with an elderly relative because he enjoys the company of like minded people. It's true, the bedrooms are dated and shabby. The carpet in my room looked like you wouldn't want to walk on it in bare feet (although it actually was clean).... More

Beautiful castle - lovely grounds - good location - but oh dear not a hotel. Poor reception after driving 250 miles and arriving at 4.00 pm - are you eating in tonight? need to know asap - will you be using the pool? . public areas dated and spartan. Room had worn, faded and rucked carpet (trip hazard) only window... More

Awesome location and grounds, makes you want to sit outside on the terrace with a Pims! Made do with a bottled beer! It is a mansion, more impressive outside than in. The two bedrooms I saw were clean but a little dated, although some recent improvements include wi-fi and flat screen TVs. The bed was scrupilously clean and comfy and... More

We've just come back from a brilliant 2 night stay in Willersley Castle. I booked Willersley as a 30th birthday treat for my boyfriend. I booked a superior double room, and asked for a good room as it was for his birthday so we were given room 40. The room was located in the far left of the castle, slightly... More

The house is 200 years old with lovely high ceilings and period features. It is set above the valley this is a 200 year old house with some nice period features, it has some beautiful views. It is a little old fashioned in places, but it is still clean, comfortable and we felt very much at home. There are some... More

Had a great night here a week ago. The hotel itself is charming, in a beautiful setting. It is slightly run down but not in an unclean way. The staff were friendly and approachable and the views were stunning. With the use of the pool too (particularly good after a long drive and in the following morning after a run... More

I spent one night here. Room contained 4 beds and was a very large room on the first floor. Castle has lots of character, we are used to modern hotels so staying here was a change. It's a 5 minute walk into Cromford, Cromford canal and Cromford mill. The pool is up a steep hill or you could drive up,... More

My partner and I have just returned from a short stay here and we were really pleased with the hotel. The building itself is impressive and the views are spectacular, there is a great swimming pool for guests with free towels to use and it was very clean. Our room was on the first floor of the main castle building... More

Breakfast was delicious with plenty of variety a brilliant start to the day. Beautiful views across the valley. Fantastic grounds well kept and a... More

Had one night here, very basic rooms, rather dated. Breakfast was served between 8am and 9am, we gave that a miss, too early. Fantastic view from our room. Brilliant setting, lovely surrounding area. Walked into Cromford in the afternoon, just 15 minute walk away. We got a taxi into Matlock, in the evening, cost £8. Nice for a change.....
