It was supposed to be a treat for my mother to have tea in this hotel. The food was very poor, cakes were ordinary, mum said they were like bought in a pound shop, I think it an insult to the pound shop. The worst scones I have ever eaten. It was scruffy and needed painting in parts. The best... More

Stayed here for 3 nights over a long weekend. Our room was small but clean and comfortable and although near the front, it wasn't too noisy. We ate in one night; it was quiet but the food was fine. The cooked breakfast was great and there were also cereals, fruit etc. Nice staff, good location and reasonable priced.

Stayed here for a night in June situated in a nice little village .Traffic quite busy outside due to a quarry I think nearby which wakes you up if you stay in week .Food could do with abit more love put into it but you cant fault the owners ,they are so friendly the owners daughter had time to speak... Just had afternoon tea at the greyhound using an amazon 2 for 1 voucher and was very disappointed. The place has nil ambience and the sandwiches and cakes were very poor. The cream for the scones was like the squirty stuff out of a can. Similarly priced afternoon teas we have had elsewhere were far superior. Won't be returning

Just had afternoon tea at the Greyhound Hotel, not what we expected at all. Yes we used a voucher from amazon 2 for 1, but we thought it was still over priced. There was no ambience, we sat at tables as though we were being seated for dinner. Background music was totally inappropriate. It feels as though it was once... More

Stayed here for two nights. Lovely looking building on the outside, but it is a pub with accommodation rather than an hotel. We paid £220.00 B&B for two nights. Our room was large, with a decent sized bathroom with a good shower. Toiletries were provided, but the soap was unwrapped and looked old and possibly used a couple of times.... More

We were one of four couples staying the night after a book signing at very nearby Scarthin Books (absolute gem of a book shop - worth a visit on its own). The room was, as stated by others, very spacious, comfortable and fully equipped. Downstairs is, basically, a village pub with a range of real ales and a friendly, pubby... More

We found the Greyhound Hotel suited all our needs for our visit to the Peak District. Ideal location with parking in a lovely village. Everyone at the hotel we found to be very friendly and for the price we paid thought it was good value, with a tasty two course dinner and afternoon tea included in the deal. We stayed... More

Wonderful listed building, well situated with parking right outside the front door. Staff friendly and helpful, room very spacious, although early morning traffic, a lot of heavy good vehicles, intrusive, but we were only there for the one night. Ideally situated for walking, really enjoyed staying in a World Heritage village, so much of interest to visit. We will return!

We stayed recently care of a Groupon deal. Despite some confusion, the manager sorted us out with no problem. The building is an amazing 18th century hotel, next to the picturesque mill pond and water wheel in Cromford. Had a lovely weekend walking up the Cromford Black Rocks, and over the Heights of Abraham, and through Matlock and Matlock Bath.... More
