This was our last stay on our trip to French Polynesia. The wife and I agreed it would be one of the two places we would be sure to visit on our next trip to the islands. It is absolutely perfect. The "room" we had was the most unique we have ever had. It was the work of a true... More

Nice and close to where the big wave surfing championship is held - a couple of miles away - this collection of cabins held great promise and did not disappoint. Almost like native accommodations, each cabin is made using the material that was on the ground and around its location as building materials. Nothing trucked in. Yes rustic, but beautiful... More

I would give Vanira Lodge 4.5 stars if I could. It is a wonderful oasis in a laid back part of the island. This is the perfect place to relax and find peace. Chef Remy cooks brilliant dinners every evening and there is plenty of privacy in the rooms. If you want Tahiti au naturel, this is it!

We only stayed here 2 Nights, but really liked the "remoteness". We went there by bus, and there are bikes to borrow. But if you don't liked walking uphill, go by car. We catered ourselves at night (kitchen well equipped), but you also buy dinner a the lodge (and breakfast). Our girls enjoyed the pool a lot.

This was the most unique and amazing places we've ever stayed at. Beautiful view, peace and quiet except for nature. Lots of birds. We loved it here, except for the fact that there were no restaurants within walking distance. You should have a car if you stay here. We ordered in one nite but most nites we walked to the... More

Vacations are for memories and to slow down time. The Vanira Lodge will be an everlasting memory. It took over an hour from the airport to get to the otherside of the island Tahiti but, when we drove up the steep hill to get to the Lodge I didn't know the surprise my co-traveler had set up for us. The... More

For those who like nature, quiet places and amazing view, this is THE place oyu want to go on Tahiti. The bungalows are wonderful wooden "huts" (very comfortable) perched on the hill, set in a very large garden full of flowers. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly. My only suggestion for improvement would be to make the pool... More

Reading the reviews, I expected a more welcoming lodge. It was raining and since the rooms are very well integrated with the environment, my bed was waaaaay too damp. I had to sleep on top of my dry clothes. We were expecting to have some waves at Teahupoo for a surfary. This was or last day of vacation and we... More

It takes a while (90 minutes-ish) to drive all the way over to Tahiti Iti from the port or airport in Papeete, but we were so thankful that we did. The larger portion of Tahiti (Tahiti Nui) is congested and graffiti-filled, and I was seriously regretting our decision to spend three nights on the island before our cruise. But Vanira... More

Avoid this place for your own safety! In all our years of travel we have never been threatened with physical violence by hotel staff but it happened at Vanira Lodge. Here is our cautionary tale: On our first night, we arrived at the "restaurant" for our reservation time and found that there was just one local woman working there doing... More
