This is such a special spot, the steep drive is certainly worth it for the beautiful views accross the lagoon. Pretty flowers and gorgeous gardens surround the bungalows and pool, best view ever from an out door shower! We stayed in a double with out air con but was perfect. Quirky, wood, stone and turf room surrounded by vivid flowers... More

My husband stayed here for one evening. We booked the Vai Iti room. It was a perfect little spot for a couple looking for privacy. The room was perfect for 2 people. It has a great little air conditioner. The shower and toilet are outside, which is pretty cool. At night the bugs come out so beware if you need... More

In May of this year, we stayed in Maara and had a lovely visit. Unlike any property we have stayed at before, Maara was quite unique in the blend of lodging with nature. The views were amazing, close to Teahupoo, and it does seem that they are continuously trying to improve this property. Having a restaurant on property is handy... More

Take a drive to Tahiti Iti to within couple of miles of the end of Route 1 where you will find this mountainside retreat with a spectacular view of the ocean. Each bungalow is unique and made mostly of local materials. The air conditioned units provide relief from heat, humidity, bugs and noisy roosters in the valley below. They come... More

We weren't happy with our room due to several problems, i.e. plumbing, leaking roof, blown bulbs and annoying flashing light over the bed. None of these problems were addressed for the duration of our stay so we were a bit peeved at lack of concern. There was also no cooperation with helping us to book any activities. We had to... This was our last stay on our trip to French Polynesia. The wife and I agreed it would be one of the two places we would be sure to visit on our next trip to the islands. It is absolutely perfect. The "room" we had was the most unique we have ever had. It was the work of a true... More

Nice and close to where the big wave surfing championship is held - a couple of miles away - this collection of cabins held great promise and did not disappoint. Almost like native accommodations, each cabin is made using the material that was on the ground and around its location as building materials. Nothing trucked in. Yes rustic, but beautiful... More

I would give Vanira Lodge 4.5 stars if I could. It is a wonderful oasis in a laid back part of the island. This is the perfect place to relax and find peace. Chef Remy cooks brilliant dinners every evening and there is plenty of privacy in the rooms. If you want Tahiti au naturel, this is it!

We only stayed here 2 Nights, but really liked the "remoteness". We went there by bus, and there are bikes to borrow. But if you don't liked walking uphill, go by car. We catered ourselves at night (kitchen well equipped), but you also buy dinner a the lodge (and breakfast). Our girls enjoyed the pool a lot.

This was the most unique and amazing places we've ever stayed at. Beautiful view, peace and quiet except for nature. Lots of birds. We loved it here, except for the fact that there were no restaurants within walking distance. You should have a car if you stay here. We ordered in one nite but most nites we walked to the... More
