Visited as a couple complete with dog 31/7- 3/8/15. We had a large double room downstairs with a great wet room incorporating a power shower . The room was very comfortable and clean . This was our second visit since the new owner took over and it was wonderful to see how the look has been transformed over the months.... More

Have just stayed one night at the Royal Oak as a treat for our anniversary and had a lovely enjoyable time. Our room was clean and comfortable with a nice modern bathroom. Had a very tasty steak for dinner with good service and attentive staff. The breakfast was also very good and nothing too much trouble. Would thoroughly recommend it.

A Very pretty Hotel in beautiful surroundings. The room was large airy, spotlessly clean. The shower was a large walk in wet room. The bar and restaurant were full of character. The owner was welcoming and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. The hotel is very dog friendly, excellent hard to find these days. Lots of walks from the hotel.... More

A suberb location by a babbling brook, green hillsides and criss-crossing footpaths makes the Royal Oak a peaceful and photogenic location. Now fully recovered from a period of temporary stewardship it is an ideal location for country pursuits, walking and touring Exmoor and the North Somerset coast. Bedrooms are being progressively modernised to a very high standard, with wonderfully comfortable... More

My wife and I stayed in the pub / hotel over this weekend. We had entered an Iron Man race on Exmoor and we randomly searched for a local hotel. We found a gem. Nothing was too much trouble for the land lady. We arrived late on a Friday night after the kitchen had closed, no problem, the chef cooked... More

Fantastic is the only way to describe our visit to the Royal Oak Inn. We visited as a group for our friend's 30th birthday and the food was amazing (especially the beef wellington). The staff are extremely friendly, and accommodated our large party well. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable, and the setting in Luxborough is great. Definitely worth a... More

My wife and I decided to try the Royal Oak for Sunday lunch today, following a number of reviews indicating that this could be a pleasant experience with good food. We were welcomed warmly by the barmaid, had a nice pint of Exmoor Ale, then decided to have soup followed by scampi, chips and salad. The soup was fine. However,... More

We visited after stopping on a whim for a walk in Chargot woods with our two pooches. Following a pleasant 1 hour walk we found the Royal Oak at Luxbprough. We ate a two course Sunday lunch outside and it has to be one of the best we have ever eaten.. After wine and great beer our food soon arrived... More

I previously stayed at the Oak with my wife a number of years ago and really loved the place but it closed down and went through a very unstable period. I had heard that the most recent owners (Aug 14) were getting the place back to its former self so decided to give it a go. Me and a friend... More
