Although the place was very busy due to it being the week-end, plus having a wedding party, we were seated and served within thirty minutes. The soup was hot and very tasty, and my main course of poached smoked haddock with a poached egg was delicious. My wife opted for the roast chicken with wild mushrooms in a Madera sauce... More

Despite the slightly unexciting outside, this place is great. Our room, one of 3, had its own front door and glorious views. The room was beautifully appointed with little touches eg homemade biscuits, small bowl of sweets and an umbrella in case of rain. The village is quiet and there is nothing to do in the evening but enjoy the... More

Lovely pub, excellent food, good range of quality, hand-pulled ales (Theakstons Lightfoot was especially nice) and the views out of the rear of the quaint, old, pub are awesome. Lots of history tied up with the pub too. Dogs not allowed.

Chose this particular place to stay after reading other reviews online. We decided to go with the family room which consisted of a double and twin bedroom with a large communal bathroom. Sofa and TV in the living room had a nice touch to it also. Food, welcome and service was excellent throughout our stay. Will be paying another visit.... More

Stopped here for lunch today and was amazed by the quality and price of the food, all fresh veg too. Two courses for £10 or three for £14. Wow. Lovely old pub, low ceilings and beams but with a lovely light and spacious dining room and decking terrace both with fabulous views across the valley. Will be back many times... More

A fantastic meal as a group of 8. Service was friendly and quick. The food was plentiful and filling. Didn't have to eat for the rest of the day. The meal portions with vegetables were big and the puddings were delicious as a group it was great as the women could each try some of each other's. A great way... More

I have been to this pub a number of times and have never previously has cause for complaint, in fact I have previously given a 5 star review. Today however was an exception to that rule. The food as usual was good, although we only ended up having starters but the customer service was very poor indeed. Sad to say... More

My daughter, 9 year old grand daughter Grace, and I stayed here for one night just before Easter. Our accommodation was in a separate part at the rear of the old pub, meaning we could drive our car almost right to the door to unload our luggage. There was a spacious lounge, two bedrooms, a huge bathroom, and views to... More

We ate here this weekend after a recommendation from an employee of the b and b we were staying in! It turned out to be the best meal we had all weekend! On entering the bar we were greeted by a very friendly young lady who took our drinks orders. On looking around, the bar area had a few people... More
