We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Barend holiday village. We stayed in chalet number 55 and was really happy with the accommodation. It included everything you need for a self catering holiday and was excellently furnished. The surrounding area is very picturesque and peaceful and made for an excellent getaway. Ideal for walkers and mountain bikers.... More

Didn't arrive until after midnight thanks to a broken sat nav, luckily the bar was still open and our key had been left for us, friendly and welcoming staff. Lodge 72 is gorgeous, we fell in love with it, lovely and clean with everything you need, beautiful view of the woodland and wildlife. There's not much to do in the... More

After reading the reviews I was surprised at how highly rated the Barend Holiday Village was. Perhaps I went there with our son and granddaughter expecting that all we had read in their pamphlet would be true. When we read the pamphlet it said free fishing in our lake, swimming and childrens play. We went to reception and asked the... More

What a shame you did not book with Barend Holiday Village as there would be absolutely no charge for swimming. You booked a chalet at Barend through an off site agency and then came to the Barend Holiday Village Reception. If you had booked through Barend Holiday Village you would have had a high quality lodge - although I am... More

A well appointed lodge which is a credit to the owners with great views of the loch and countryside. The lodge had all a family could ask for including board games, toys, DVDs and music for all the family. The beach is about 10 mins walk from the holiday village but for those wet Scottish days you also have the... More

Holidaying at the nearby Sandyhills Bay Caravan site, we walked the quarter mile to Barend holiday village restaurant with the intention of having our evening meal. We entered the bar area and walked past the bar where the barman was talking to two customers. We sat at a table within view of the bar...and waited .....and waited to be served.... More

A great well looked after Log Cabin at Barend by Sandyhills Beach near Dalbeattie. The chalet is well presented both inside and out and is a credit to the owners. There is everything a Family or just a couple could ask for. Comfortable surroundings and nice Beds with fresh bedding and lovely clean Towels.

We booked the red kite lodge the day before in the holiday village. We had found it difficult to find somewhere we could take our dog with us. We found this place which was fantastic. You can even take your dog to the on site pub. The beach is a two minute walk away. There are also great walks in... More

Returned to Barend again 19th May for 5days, this time with 4 other golfers to play at Colvend Golf Club. Stayed there last June with wife and another couple doing some walking. If anyone enjoys either hobby, plus eating in the excellent bar/restaurant, then this is hard to beat. The log cabins are very well appointed and along with Gary... More
