We have just enjoyed a break at Barend Holiday Village. The chalet, no35 was excellent the staff were very helpful and friendly. The swimming pool was an added bonus. The restaurant in the grounds was of a very good standard. Beautiful views and the beach was great. Also lots to do in the area eg. Maybie farm park and Dino... More

We were very happy with the large wooden Norwegian style cabin. The whole site is of high standard and kept tidy. Stunning views, when the sun shines, over the small loch and onto the hills. There is a large sandy beach is about 10 mins walk away. The staff at the reception were very nice and helpful, and the pool there... More

Have been visiting for a number of years but the last visit it's starting to look tired and in need of refurbishment here and there, The lodges themselves are owned privately and rented out and depending who's you rent will depend on the standard of the furniture etc. The last one we have used twice the second time the installation... Never fails to provide relaxation, spectacular views and the best sleeps anywhere! Stayed with my family Dec 30 to Jan 3 - our fourth visit. Very impressed with bar area which has been refurbished since our last visit three years ago and is now comfortable, warm and welcoming. Will definitely be returning....my 2 1\2 year old granddaughter insists on it!

Stayed in a type A modified cabin with my 2 children, wife and parents for a week in August. Having never been before we were really looking forward to it and I have to say I was disappointed with the cabin. The one we had (15 I think but apologies to the owners if I'm wrong), is starting to show... More

So sorry you did not enjoy your accommodation. It was number 15 which is quite a favourite with many of our clients. A log cabin is made of wood, so yes, they can be dark. "A paint job" is certainly not appropriate. Our white van man reported that he came around and showed the occupants "how to use the oven".... More

Everything was as we hoped for. Lovely setting with a nice stroll to the beach and cliff walk. Rockcliffe and Kippford were well worth a visit. Lodge too big really for two but very well equipped. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all. Our 8 year old grandson would love it so I can't... More

We stayed at 'Merrymeet' chalet at Barend Holiday Village for a week in August, booked through Hoseasons. It's in a lovely location with a beach nearby, and the park was very clean and tidy. The chalet is an adequate size for 8 and very clean, though could do with some updating. There is wi-fi (for a small fee), which was... More

Merrymeet is at Barend, but is not a Barend Holiday Village chalet. If you had stayed in a chalet booked through Barend Holiday Village, the main letting agency, there would have been no cost for swimming. More

We stayed in lodge 61.It was basic but clean & had everything we needed for our week long break (except a mobile signal but not a deal breaker for us). Wonderful base for exploring the area and brilliant for walking the dogs, particularly the beach. Had a lovely meal in the bar on our last night and enjoyed (and won)... More
