Accommodations are pretty limited in New Hazleton but the Bulkley Valley Motel is surprisingly good. It doesn't look like much from the outside and the rooms are somewhat dated although the bathroom had been recently updated and everything was spotlessly clean. We had a kitchen unit with a full fridge and stove. The utensils were somewhat limited but there were... More

We had planned to stay in Smithers, but phoned ahead and found every room in town was booked. Yikes. We happened to be passing the Bulkley Valley Motel just then, and decided to stop. The owner and her husband were pleasant, the rate was about what we've come to expect (expensive compared to Vancouver hotels, but it's a different playing... More

Good-sized room with a large desk, wifi, coffeemaker, fridge, tub. We had the end room on the first floor. There are supposed to be 4 places to eat all within walking distance...appeared that on a Monday, on the BC Eagle (right next door, Chinese food) was open.

Stayed here for one night on way to Prince Rupert, and spent a day visiting the area. The motel is older and the outside stairs and walkways definitely need some upgrading but the rooms are updated, clean and cozy. The owner is most friendly and accommodating. The motel is central to many interesting places, historic, first nations, and outdoor recreation... More

I'm giving this top ratings not because it's a four-star hotel, but because the owner does everything he can to make your stay a good one. The room is clean and comfortable; the furniture seems new. I needed ice but they don't have an ice machine, so the owner went next door and bought a bag of ice! He's also... More

I arrived to meet the owner who was friendly and helpful to check me in to his business. He was interested in my travel stories... More

We stayed for one night on our way to Barkerville and it was fine. The owners are really kind and the price is okay. From the outside, it looks a bit washed. However, the inside is okay. It is dark, but perfectly clean. There's no airconditioning by the way! They do have free wifi.

Howard B, Owner at The Bulkley Valley Motel, responded to this review

Thank you for your pleasant review. We have air conditioning in every room, the remote to control the units is on the unit which is located straight ahead when you enter the room. If you prefer you may control it manually. These air conditioning units were installed new about 2 years ago. I am sorry you missed seeing them. More
