We lobbed up late afternoon in September with no booking after just making it thru Haast before they closed the road for the night. This hotels accommodation is absolutely brilliant. Huge rooms (well actually more like an apartment) with spectacular views over Lake Hawea, comfy beds and hot showers. The onsite restaurant is very good with 5-star meals at reasonable... More

We booked the Lake Hawea Hotel because we were looking for something a bit quieter than Queenstown or Wanaka and it was justa bout perfect. The views were incredible, the beds are comfortable and there's plenty of hot water for a soothing bath after a hard day on the slopes at Treble Cone. The staff were very friendly and wet... More

we had the special price $15 of the day with dessert included. Great value, good meal, service great and a view to soak in. A lovely experience all round. We fell in love with Hawea all over again and will spend more time staying next time.We particularly enjoyed the unhurried peace and quiet of this charming town compared to other towns... From the front, the Hotel looks like a rural country wooden chalet with no frills however, when we got to our room, we found that it had very modern, warm, contemporary deco with modern fittings. The bathroom has a shower and a bath befitting of a 4-5 star hotel. We had an unobstructed view from our bedroom overlooking the Lake.... More

Yohann helped make our stay amazing by being informative and helpful. We are in the process of cycling up to Auckland for breast cancer and were in need of some rest. Yohann conversed with us and helps us plan out are trip. He went out of his way to help and deserves a raise. The hotel is beautiful and he... More

We only stayed one night at the Lake Hawea Motel but wished we could have stayed longer. The price is not cheap but well worth it for the view, the spotlessly clean and refurbished room. The staff were very helpful for directions of a place we had to visit. We would thoroughly recommend this accommodation. While not cheap it does... More

We had only one night here and love it so much. Reasonable price, Friendly staffs, Nice restaurant and bar. Our room was so big, nice view facing the lake. Bed also very comfortable with heat blanket. Bathroom also very big and high quality of amenities. Dinner was just ok compare with other restaurant in town. Highly recommended. We will stay... More

We spent a couple of nights at this hotel on our trip from Christchurch to Queenstown. The room was impeccable, the views were breathtaking, the staff were lovely and couldn't have done enough to make our stay any more perfect. The maître d' (Johann) was a cheerful, friendly and accommodating young French fellow. We even tried his mother's secret mulled... More

Spacious rooms, stunning views, fantastic location. What more could be more relaxing and invigorating than being in a classic room with nature jumping into the room? Not much! This hotel will create the space for you to relax and leave refreshed. The views will draw the tension away as every moment there is a subtle change that draws one in,... More

Me and my wife spent one night in March 2014 at Lake Hawea Hotel, during our 2 weeks travel through the South Island (NZ). We wished to have stayed more. The staff was friendly (seems like a family owned/run facility), and the view towards the lake fantastic. We traveled around lake Hawea and lake Wanaka. During the fantastic night, the... More
