On our drive from the weather inflicted West Coast, we decided to stop in Lake Hawea instead of making Wanaka or the Pass our halfway point. What a blessing! First of all coming off of the coast and leaving the Pass behind the weather immediately changed; the sun came out, the landscape became tame and awaiting us was a crystal... More

We had booked a night to break up the journey between Franz Josef and Queenstown. We arrived early afternoon. Host, Johan, showed us to our rooms. Big with comfy bed and the most spectacular views of the lake. We spent the afternoon in the hotel lounge and booked for dinner there, also, which was great. Johan responded quickly when I... More

Nice room, great views, fantastic position on the lake and good restaurant. And like all good places having a great host makes all the difference. The owner was fantastic and the whole place reflects this. Good food, good ambience, reasonable priced. Definitely recommend.

We had a family room for 4 adults. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Rooms are sizeable. There are 1 Queen-size bed and 2 single beds. The single beds are on the 2nd level. The toilet and rooms are very clean. Our room has view of the lake. It is really awesome. The restaurant in the hotel serves... More

I don't think you could get a better view than this hotel. I've never seen one. We arrived early and they not only gave us a room but walked over to open the room for us and show us around. Large upstairs area with a double and a single with a king bed downstairs. Electric blankets on the beds and... More

Just arrived out of the Pass on our way to Wanaka when we discovered this gem. We got the last room and we felt so lucky. What a wonderful setting with our room looking right up the lake and mountains. Staff were excellent and our dinner was the best. Great value for money - we would recommend to anyone to... More

Our Lake view suite was awesome. The room was very modern with comfortable beds and plenty of room and the bath was very welcome. The front balcony offered spectacular views of the lake and the view was also enjoyed from the restaurant where we ate a delicious meal around a cosy fire. Staff friendly and helpful. Only a short drive... More

We lobbed up late afternoon in September with no booking after just making it thru Haast before they closed the road for the night. This hotels accommodation is absolutely brilliant. Huge rooms (well actually more like an apartment) with spectacular views over Lake Hawea, comfy beds and hot showers. The onsite restaurant is very good with 5-star meals at reasonable... More

We booked the Lake Hawea Hotel because we were looking for something a bit quieter than Queenstown or Wanaka and it was justa bout perfect. The views were incredible, the beds are comfortable and there's plenty of hot water for a soothing bath after a hard day on the slopes at Treble Cone. The staff were very friendly and wet... More

we had the special price $15 of the day with dessert included. Great value, good meal, service great and a view to soak in. A lovely experience all round. We fell in love with Hawea all over again and will spend more time staying next time.We particularly enjoyed the unhurried peace and quiet of this charming town compared to other towns...
