2001-My husband & I made reservations to stay at Gwydir Castle. When we arrived, Judith Corbett warmly greeted us and showed us to our room. Very nice 4 poster bed with a picture on the wall of Wynn in all his glory. My only request was that I be able to experience every room in the castle and take photos.... More

Just returned from gwydir,I was blown away with how beautifully this place is, Judy and Peter. Have worked so hard in the restoration and what a fab job they have done, breakfast was good (thanks paddy).you need to take a torch if your going out at night no lights on road, read Judy's book before you go makes you understand how... June 2013- We stayed three nights at the castle and wish it was 2 weeks! Judy & Peter were wonderful hosts along with Paddy attending to meals and comfort. The castle is amazing if you like staying in a 1500-1600 era setting, along with the history of the site, which we did. You are provided along with your stay, access... More

If you love history, this castle built about 1500 is the place to stay. We were warmly greeted by Judy (and her Lurcher Finn) who after showing us our guest rooms served us afternoon tea in front of the fireplace in the "breakfast room". Later on that evening we played cards by candlelight in the same room. We stayed in... More

We had the priviledge of staying staying in this incredibly historic and atmospheric Castle for two nights whilst on a short holiday in North Wales. Anybody with any sense of romance and interest in history should do the same. We were the first guests of the season and were lucky enough to have the house all to ourselves to explore... More

Gwydir Castle has much to recommend it: reasonably priced (we stayed in the £95/night Kings Room), extremely friendly service, packed with history, and a wonderful location in the Conwy Valley minutes from Snowdonia National Park. It's not perfect, and there are probably more comfortable properties in this price range, but its charming enough to have you willing to put up... More

Arriving at the castle we were greeted by Peter who was very welcoming and showed us up to The Kings room for our one nights stay. The room was very spacious with a lovely four poster bed and great views of the garden. When we went down for breakfast the next morning we were greeted by Paddy the housekeeper in... More

My husband and myself have just spent two nights at the enchanting Gwydir Castle. We stayed in the Kings Room, full of (proper) antiques and completely retaining all the original charm and 'shabby chic-ness' that a castle room of that age should do! We had read 'Castles in the Air' prior to our visit and were so pleased to find... More

As many have said, this is not your typically B&B experience. A one night stopover was a perfect stay length for us. We were able to roam the gardens in the evening, and privately tour the castle after breakfast. The antiquity of the King's Room made it a fun stay for a night, but not a place to lounge and... More

Before I write further, I will quote from the book written by one of the (young) owners - Judith and Peter who purchased the almost derelict castle and have undergone a painstaking and historically sympathetic renovation. Castles in the Air - Judy Corbett :: " ... This was to become the philosophy behind our future restoration of the house. Keeping... More
