This was our first stay on a ten night tour of Cumbria by car. Tim gave us a very warm welcome on an atmospheric autumnal afternoon of mist and drizzle. He gave us a great intro as to where to best experience Hadrian's Wall, features of the local villages and that we must visit Lanercost Priory. We made full use... More

This was lovely accommodation which was clean and comfortable, but was let down a little by the welcome that we received from the 'Head teacher' who seemed a little stressed at our arrival. In fairness we had received such warm welcomes from previous accommodation whilst doing the Hadrian's Wall path, that it may not be as bad as perceived, but... More

Beautiful peaceful spot in the country. Great welcome by Tim. Our room (in the Blacksmiths) was large with a walk-in robe and the shower was a double. We had pre-paid for dinner which was plentiful and delicious and a choice of vegetables. Breakfast was equally good. South Australia

The owners were extremely warm and welcoming. This was the terminus for our walk on Hadrian's Wall. They allowed us to park our van there for several days before our actual arrival. The cook staff was fun. Good cooking and outgoing personalities were the hallmark for every meal. The house has a very large, comfortable living room and dining room... More

Of the 11 establishments I've stayed along the Hadrian's Wall path, this one has an added element of fun. From greeting to departure it's a lot of laughing and good conversation. The food is a set menu, high quality and priced about right for 3 courses. Pubs in towns are less expensive but there was no reason for me to... More

Superior hospitality from Sue and Tim and the staff who made us feel so welcome. We laughed and laughed with the food preparers. Right on the path of Hadrian's Wall and steps away from the Lanercost Priory, this is a jewel. Clean and comfortable and a great selection of beers and wine from the honor bar, in a cooler! The... Our hostess welcomed us to the lovely B&B near Lanercost Abbey. Her flowers were beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable and the shower felt great after our second day of hiking. Dinner is offered and that made it nice to just stay there and relax for the evening. Breakfast was also very good.

Recent one night stay, room was spacious and immaculate with very comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Ladies serving and cleaning were very friendly. My only comment is that I think £20 for dinner is well over priced. You do get 3 courses but the servings are small and the dishes simple and quite plain. I would like to have seen... More

A perfect stop on our Hadrian's Wall walk. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed, double power shower. We pre booked dinner, this was a a beautiful experience, all the annex guests ate together, we enjoyed the company of 3 Australians and 5 Americans, a very tasty 3 course dinner, excellent service, very friendly staff. Very well run.

Abbey Bridge was the first stop on a 5 day trip along Hadrian's wall. We had an excellent room, with an extraordinary bed-head with electric power points to charge a phone, and LED spotlighting to read without disturbing your partner. The bed was very comfortable. We had a good dinner at the establishment, reasonably priced at £20 a head for... More
