This hotel is really a gem in this day and age. We've stayed here 3 times now, the last one being almost 10 years ago and we were delighted that the service, comfort, charm and food is just as good as we last remembered it. This time we came with our 3 young children and it was brilliant that we... More

This is one of the most charming hotels I have ever stayed in. It's like a wonderful dated time capsule from the early 80's run by Wendy, and her lovely daughter who is drafted as waitress, who serves up the lovely home made food in the splendid almost 'Fawlty Towers' Diningroom. The scene is complete with the Roberts radio on... More

Many hotels impress you the first time but Oakwood Park does it every time. I've stayed here sevral times over the last 4/5 years. There's always a warm welcome from the team and the home cooked food is delicious, and plentiful. Lovely surrondings and well sited for visiting the many attractions in the area or further afield into Cumbria.

Wonderful end to our first day of cycling - to come up the gracious drive to this Victorian country house was fantastic. The rooms have everything you could think of in terms of amenities and little extras, including 2 beds, 6 tables, an en suite and a sofa in ours and still plenty of room to spare. Good shower! The... I stopped here with my family for one night. The whole experience was idyllic, the hostess was very helpful and accommodated our needs, we were made to feel right at home. The building itself is beautifully furnished to Victorian standard, the rooms are well equipped with extras and the decor was lovely. As we did not eat in on the... More

Looks better than it really is. Public rooms old fashioned, too personal. Breakfast not good. Asked for soft boiled eggs, got bullets. Beds had thin sheets, multi-coloured and looked like they had been slept in before!!. Please don't bother

It is most regrettable that if this hotel guest had any issues with his stay he didn't give anyone the opportunity to put things right at the time. He would appear to have stayed only one night, and so he cannot have experienced all of the rooms to make such a dismissive overall comment. All of the rooms are, of... More

We decided to tour Scotland and the north for 3 weeks so were looking for keenly priced accommodation. We were blown away by the quality of Oakwood Park. The rooms were glamorous, the food was delicious, the service outstanding and welcoming and the above all the setting was idyllic. A total gem! You will not be disappointed.

We stayed in this hotel/b&b for one night. OMG I wish we had stayed a lot longer. It is absolutely amazing. Loved the old time ambiance, the house was built in the 1800's and is just beautiful. The bedroom we had was huge and tastefully decorated. Our hostess Wendy and her daughter were very warm and friendly. We had a... More
