Imagine an elegant country house hotel with spa and pool. Imagine the size and quality of room you would expect. Imagine the price you would pay! Well this hotel has this type of room, large and very elegant but without the spa and pool prices are much more reasonable. The hosts were very helpful and friendly converting a standard room... We arrived at this beautiful place after a long day walking Hadrian's Wall to be greated by the warmest welcome from Wendy. ..Wendy immediatly offered to dry our coats and boots and said tea and biscuits would be in the lounge once we'd checked out our rooms...after walking in drizzle nearly all day this was more than welcome....The rooms are... The above is a description from our guide book and it sums up the building nicely. Full of character and lived in charm. Wendy and her daughter were terrific hostesses and provided us with a lovely dinner, breakfast and packed lunch. The wine list was non-existent but otherwise we were well catered for (yummy Brimstone chicken). If walking the wall... More

I stayed here in August 2014 with friends while walking Hadrian's Wall. We enjoyed excellent breakfasts and evening meals, along with very comfortable beds in a clean and interesting detached house in grounds. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

A group of 5 stayed here as part of the hadrians wall cycle route from maryport to South Shields. We reached here very wet, but was rewarded with an excellent home cooked dinner and breakfast in a peaceful late Victorian manor house run by the owner and her daughter. What really tipped it though was all our soaking cycling gear... More

Our hosts, Wendy and her daughter did a splendid job with our breakfasts and 2 dinners while we were there as well as bringing in tea to the living room and any other request we had was not any trouble. The location is right in the town of Brampton and an easy drive to Hadrian's Wall. It was raining the... More

This was the best possible accomodation we could have wished for on our walk along Hadrian's Wall Path. Wendy is an excellent host. We were offered tea in the lounge on our arrival and then she arranged for us to have dinner at a pub in the next village. In the morning she drove us back to Newtown where we... More

We wished we could have stayed longer at Oakwood Park Hotel. One night wasn't long enough. Very good value for money. Friendly, helpful, welcoming hosts - the cup of tea offered when we arrived was very appreciated. Our room was very large and spacious with everything you could need. The bathroom was also big, but didn't have a separate shower... More

By far and away the best stop on my recent completion of the Hadrian Wall route. It's not directly on the route but accessible by the AD 122 bus route. Room was great with comfortable bed and lovely view of the garden, food (including a 3 course evening meal with wine) was excellent and the hosts provided helpful and excellent... More

Stopped at Oakwood Park Hotel for 2 nights en route to Scotland. Lovely stone brick house with several acres of grounds. If you have a bedroom at the front you look out onto the fields and tree lined drive. Wendy and her daughter Katrina are excellent hosts and make you feel most welcome. Very large guest lounge and separate dining... More
