The location means that a visit here is a planned one rather than an impulse decision but it is worth making the effort. Good beer, interesting menu, food well-cooked and presented. Reasonable prices and good service make for an enjoyable evening.

The Stanley Arms is a deceptive traditional looking hostelry on the outside which reveals itself to be a fine small hotel with excellent clean well appointed rooms and well prepared and tasty food. Friendly staff and a place to stow your bicycle, a good nights sleep followed by a proper breakfast to set you on your way. The Stanley Arms... More

Booked a 2 night stay on the basis of good reviews on accommodation and food for a visit to the Peak District. In general, our experiences of places with an overwhelming majority of excellent reviews and the odd bad one, have been that the odd one out was merely a serial moaner and the accommodation proved to be excellent as... This is a lovely, quiet hotel perfectly placed for a trip to the Peak District. We had a very comfortable room and an excellent evening meal. Breakfast was plentiful and good. Our only problem was the very creaking floor boards in the room above. Request an upstairs room for a good night's sleep.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Stanley room, spotlessly clean. Slept very well after a good meal. Breakfast was OK, although limited choice if like us, you don't eat a cooked breakfast. Staff were friendly, and George the dog was lovely.

I stayed here overnight with my son recently. The pub is in a wonderful spot on the high land to the east of Macclesfield with sweeping moorland views all around. Wonderful rugged country. We received a warm welcome and a couple of well kept pints of good ale. Our room in a converted barn was very well fitted, spotlessly clean... More

This will be approx 5th visit to The Stanley Arms and it will certainly not be my last. Stayed for two nights this time and everything was as expected. Extensive menu, food gorgeous, staff and clientele very helpful and friendly. The scenery was and is the same as any other visit, breathtaking. Feeling much relaxed after a glorious weekend and... Found the Stanley Arms while looking for somewhere to stay for a visit to the Buxton Festival and it turned out to be quite a find. The room was well-presented and the breakfast nicely done. We had dinner too and the food was delicious. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the location is much nicer than being in town.... More

Fancied a quiet weekend , not too far away and came across The Stanley Arms via laterooms . Stayed in the Chapel Room , which was more than adequate , with a comfortable bed and always plenty of hot water available . We ate in the pub both nights we were there and the food was excellant as was the... More

Our fourth stay and once again first class. Menu had some changes since last visit, still excellent. Shall have to stay longer next time to try all the menu. Lovely hosts Carolyn and Adrian and friendly staff. We shall be back.
