Shelleven is a fine big B&B in a good location a short walk from Bangor seafront. Great home-style breakfast like you'd have at your Auntie's. My room was a good size. I wasn't bothered about whether there was a view or not, as I was only there to sleep! Service was fine, and the landlord seemed to be quite a... more

We recently had the pleasure of spending 2 nights in the Shelleven in Bangor, Co Down when we attended a family event in Belfast. The Shelleven is a beautiful house within a few minutes walk from Bangor's beautiful sea front. The owners, Mary and Phillip Weston, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Our bedroom was very clean, cozy... more

We arrived New Years Eve Morning to a grumpy man who was being funny with us before we had even got to our rooms, The room was so cold I went and asked the manager if he would turn the heating on!!!! not that he did we spent two night there and woke through the night shivering. Our room was... more

Upon arrival we were greeted with a cold reception both from the owner and the actual central heating system. Expected hotel to be warm given the fact that it was the middle of winter but it was probably warmer outside. Rooms: We had booked a double room via telephone only to arrive to a twin room. We were told that... more

We are a family of 4 from S Africa. Our family room was beautifully arranged with enough space to move around the room (considering there was 1 double bed and 2 single beds). The bathroom was beautifully decorated and a good size. The breakfast was outstanding. Eveything was clean, fresh and white bath towels were a decent size. Thank you... more

We were put in a small room, with no lovely view. They don't show that room on their website! The heating was off on arrival and seemed to be off most of the time we were there, not very homely! And it was COLD! And the shower room, (clean enough) had the downside of half empty shampoo/shower bottles and the... more

My partner and I and also my sister stayed at Shelleven House for two nights in February. The guesthouse house was in a fantastic location, just minutes from the marina with great views from the front rooms. The place was spotless and comfortably furnished with a lovely dining room for breakfast and welcoming lounge area. Philip and Mary who run... more

We spent a few nights there and have no major complaints. The hosts were friendly enough and our room was a good size. There was a good selection to choose from at breakfast and the food was well cooked and served promptly. There was certainly plenty of it. The hotel overlooks the bay and the walk into town is a... more

My fiancé and I arrived in Bangor on December 29, 2007 by train (from Belfast) and wanted to spend one night there. Most of the hotels and B&B's were full (or closed). Finally we were recommended the Shelleven Guest House and we had a wonderful time!! Our room was spacious, nicely decorated with a big en-suite bathroom. The view was... more

We were told via phone the previous evening that they had vacancies and we would be charged £60.00 for the two of us by the husband..At check out we were charged £75.00 for the room by his wife. I have asked for an explanation twice and the reason being was that it was a superior room. Obviously, they have not... more
