We stayed for five nights at this little hotel located centrally to Bangor on the edge of the marina area. Great views across the marina. Breakfast was good with the range of food that you would expect from a hotel of its size. The bar and eating area is well presented and maintained. The Salty Dog is a proper bar... More

We have been here loads of times and always enjoy the relaxed atmosphere the breakfasts are awesome especially the Big Dog. Lots of rooms overlook the sea and it is a great location if you like walking round the harbour or going for a run you can get to Crawfordsburn or Hollywood by the coastal walk.

We ate here today for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. The staff and atmosphere were lovely, good choices of food for lunch, and the food was excellent. We will definitely return. I would recommend the crab claws, and would also recommend booking as we didn't have a booking and had to wait (not very long though. mc

Sadly, only a handful of establishments in Northern Ireland permit dogs onto their premises. The Salty Dog is amongst the few.... My husband and I have frequented the Salty Dog on a couple of occasions with our dog Abbie and up to now, the service had been reasonably good. However, our visit today was a tremendous disappointment. Without going into... More

Wow this place ticked all the boxes the location, staff, food and very comfy rooms. I've never experienced a welcome like it staff went out their way to help me and my daughter with anything we needed/wanted even down to a doggy bag for our journey to belfast! Rooms so cozy and everything you need is there from gorgeous toiletries... More

This is a brilliant little hotel and Bistro on the sea front in Bangor. The staff there are all exceptional and the service is probably some of the best I've ever experienced. The rooms are clean and tidy and looked after every day. Te food is excellent (Steaks especially) and the bar staff and always cheerful. Definitely worth 5 stars... More

In this day of people rightly expecting good service it is nice to find it. I booked this hotel for my elderly parents and they were very well treated by the staff. They enjoyed the sea view from the bedroom and walked to the train station for day trips to Belfast. To the rear of the hotel is access to... More

Stayed for 3 nights, and loved it. The staff are super helpful and friendly, and nothing was ever a problem. They really make you feel right at home. The food is excellent, and the breakfast will definitely keep you going all day. We had a lovely big sea view room, which was stocked with everything you could need during your... More

We booked a room specifically because The Salty Dog is dog friendly (never mind very reasonably priced). My hubby was playing in the Hop House bar (also dog friendly but check with the bar staff first) as part of the Open House Festival and we weren't disappointed. Communication with the hotel prior to arriving was excellent, and we were given... More
