My husband and I have just spent two nights in the Salty Dog and enjoyed our stay very much, the food, service and staff were off the highest quality and the only thing that I could find fault with (if I have to) is that the bedroom decor was a little 'tired looking' but it was spotlessly clean, the room... I've stayed a couple of times in the Salty Dog and eaten/had a few drinks quite a few times, and never been disappointed! Stayed here last weekend with a few friends and had great food and craic. Staff were very helpful and friendly, food was very nice, and the rooms were clean with comfy beds. B&B was very reasonably priced.... More

The Salty Dog is a good base for touring North Down & the Strangford Lough area. Comfortable rooms, friendly service & a great breakfast. We ate in the bistro one evening and found it very good. Close to Belfast & the George Best airport.

Visited yesterday afternoon 21/5/15 for a boy's lunch having traveled from Belfast. Pleasant ambience in the restaurant, a mix of old world charm & modern with the location just across from the Marina. Not a particularly extensive menu & I felt somewhat confused by the different options for the seasons. Starters of fish chowder, breads & dipping oil & Caesar... More

The service was excellent and staff very friendly. I will return there and next time with my bike to take advantage of the coastal cycle path. I enjoyed having access to newspapers on a Sunday morning. The pint of guinness poured on Saturday night was excellent and reminded me of what I miss living in Scotland. My only complaint was... We were driving across Ireland all day and when we finally made it back to Belfast (12am) we were having a hard time finding a place to stay because everything was booked due to a conference in town. We went to a hotel down the street and they said the Salty Dog still had rooms. We drove down there and... More

We stayed in the Salty Dog for two nights at the end of April. We found the rooms comfortable, the breakfast more than adequate and the staff exceptionally helpful & friendly. The hotel is situated near Bangor centre yet overlooks the marina with views to Scotland on a clear day. Would certainly return for another visit.

We took two guests from Autralia for lunch at the Salty Dog, somewhere we had eaten several times before and enjoyed. Sadly, while we enjoyed the lunch it was not really up to scratch. I had the fish pie which was very filling (I have a big appetite). The scallop starter was overpriced for what was 3 very small scallops,... More

First ever visit to the Bistro; busy Saturday evening. The ambience is relaxing, the decoration smart, yet despite this being a more refined establishment, the welcome was warm and unimposing. Great space between tables allowing for privacy and fantastic views over the water. The food was sublime, exquisite and delicious; you could see just how hard the chefs must have... More
