Stayed here for a couple of nights- would recommend paying the little extra for one of the larger rooms with a sea view. Spacious and very clean. Each room is different and some were better than others. Hotel rooms have personal touches and quite homely feel. Excellent breakfast, staff very accommodating. Very central to Bangor town. Plenty of parking across... More

As a treat for my wife I booked dinner bed and breakfast at the Salty Dog. On arrival we were greeted by the staff and shown to our room. Our room was on the second floor with a sea view which was very nice. We made our way to the bar where we met the mixologist (cocktail mixer/barman) who was... More

Visited this hotel on a Saturday night for a getaway with my girlfriend. On arrival the main bar area and lounge seemed lovely and the receptionist was very welcoming, however it went wrong from here. Our room was below average standards. Wallpaper peeling off the walls, not cleaned properly, dusty, bed was like a brick....the list goes on. We decided... More

We booked in for dinner and an overnight stay, though we hadn't been before. Our rooms were really spacious, clean and full of character. The beds were really comfy, and the homemade choc chip cookies in the room were a lovely touch. We all had a three course meal in the restaurant, and the food was so good. Local produce... More

A friend and I had a meal in the restaurant. The appearance is great and the staff couldn't be nicer, very peasant and friendly. We were made to feel very welcome. The atmosphere and decor are lovely and we felt very posh. However, we struggled to find something on the menu that jumped out at us. There was nothing appealing... More

My partner and I came to the salty dog for lunch. I chose from the vegetarian section of the menu as I'm not a big sea food fan. There was plenty to choose from and it all looked delicious and mine was!, my partner had a fish pie which he enjoyed. The food was warm and the staff were friendly... More

We stayed here for one night mid week. We had a lovely warm welcome and were even shown to our room. Although quite small the room had stunning views and some lovely touches. These included home made cookies, a selection of different teas, scented candles, fresh water with glasses and lovely toiletries. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. The hotel... More

Having loved our previous visits to the Salty Dog for meals, I grabbed a deal for an overnight stay and a mini holiday in Bangor. Used to stay by the sea here as a child, so the Victorian style building adds to my memories! The staff here are so professional, as another reviewer said, beyond what you usually get in... More

I dinned here after received a voucher for 2 courses. Food, service and atmosphere lovely, although I'd prefer the tables to be a little further apart for a more intimate dining experience. Overall, very nice!

We were booked in for a family party. High hopes for a lovely night. The service was excellent, friendly and helpful, however, the worst ceasar salad ever followed by worst burger ever, Really hoped it would be good. Such a disappointment.
