Recently stayed as a couple for three nights with a two voucher deal through Travelzoo. Certainly a room with a view!! Room 4. Excellent menu choice for dinner, especially if you like fish, and fantastic value for money. Paul with his calm demeanour is welcoming and attentive. The downstairs rooms were being painted whilst we were staying and although not... More

We have visited Aberdovey many many times but have never stayed at the Penhalig Arms before. We booked through Travelzoo and had an amazing deal. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and our room was more like a suite than a room with spectacular sea views. We ate in the restaurant and the food was especially good. The atmosphere... I booked the hotel through Travelzoo as a surprise break for my girlfriend and myself. We arrived at around 8pm on the Friday to a warm welcome and handshake from the assistant manager. He had an unrushed manner, despite it being the middle of dinner, and handed us our room key within seconds. Another friendly member of staff showed us... More

We have stayed in Aberdovey a few times and always walked past the Penhelig Arms, but this time we thought we would stay, we are hooked , we had a loveley sea view room small but adequate, the bed was comfortable the shower and towels very nice. We ate in the restuarant in the evening the food was the best... More

The Penhelig Hotel is right on the main road through Aberdovey, without even a pavement, and next door to the train station. It is a very old building with small rooms, steep stairs and tight angles. I've never seen such a squashed reception, it seemed to be in a cupboard! Our room 10 was on the second floor with a... More

We took advantage of the winter deal upgraded to superior rooms, and four of us stayed 3 nights at the beginning of half term. The rooms were roomy and comfortable with sea views, we have stayed in various rooms during our visits, and though some are small we have always been satisfied. When we stayed in the summer the food... More

We had planned a special meal out for the last night of our holiday, but the weather turned stormy and our original choice of place had a power cut. We found the Penhelig Arms almost by accident as it was the first place with all its lights on! What a find, though. A very warm welcome, with a fire blazing... More

We called in here for coffee on Sunday 26th of October. The town was very busy and our normal cafés couldn't take our group of six so we went to the Penhelig Arms as I had previously seen a sign advertising coffee. I saw the landlord as we were crossing the road and when asked. If they were serving was... More

We paid £89 for an overnight stay for two, with breakfast, three course evening meal and glass of prosecco. This was excellent value for money. We did have trouble finding a member of staff on arrival to check in. But did not have an issue with this. We had a larger superior room at the back with no view, but... More
