Booked a sea view room which was situated at the end of the accommodation and therefore quiet. A good basic room with no frills but the sea view provided a good all round vista of the Bay. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious just like home cooked exceedingly good value

On arrival I was pleased to see a large, seafront hotel but I was soon a little dissapointed when entering the reception area via a tatty front door step. There is a smell in the lobby area which is a little off-putting but you soon get used to it! Biggest issue we had with the hotel was the stifling heat... More

A hotel that needs a little TLC. In need of a lick of paint and a little run down inside. Was once obviously a very mod art deco Hotel, but very tired décor now. Very friendly staff excellent value for money o the bar food. Dissappointed In the cleanliness of the grill bar. Burgers could do with more seasoning, Ribs... More

Stayed overnight for my nephew's wedding. On arrival there was no one at the desk which to be honest did not look like a reception desk. We got a drink and went back later to book in. Had to pay up front for our room and breakfast, but we did receive a discount as part of wedding party. Breakfast was... More

You can't miss the Staincliffe, just look for the row of tattered and tangled flags as you approach. Surprised that the hotel fails to provide any blue badge parking, the surprise increases as you enter - there's a smell, a sort of bad cabbage and blocked drains. It's not heavy, and by the time that you've registered you get used... More

Staff friendly & attentive, meal etc good value BUT the premises need refurbishing, tired& grubby, shame as the building is an old landmark in the area, owners need to invest. We visited mid-week and it was very busy which in the current climate is amazing, assume this is down to the chef & catering staffs good efforts

We booked the famous room 18, the Verander. Sadly due to un foreseeing circumstance we had to move room, we were upgraded to a family suite, room 22. Both rooms were lovely. The hotel is very clean, with lots of very friendly staff. We had our evening meal in the Grill room, great service at a great price. Looking forward... More

This was my first and will be my last stay in this hotel. My colleagues had stayed there previously and advised me not to stay in room 18, which is a room situated in the loft of the hotel. They didn't like it because of the strange Goth-like decor, which led one in particular to believe it was haunted. So... More
