the food was very good and plentifull, but the surroundings were very much outdated, small tables ,very uncomfortable chairs. The windows were letting in an awfull lot of cold, and do infact need to be painted .The reception area is very dark .and not very inviting. There was a wedding whilst i was in the bar area ,the bride had to walk... More

Called here for lunch with my husband and son. Just wanted a light lunch so ordered the afternoon tea for three. This is advertised as a selection of sandwiches, scones, cream cakes and accompanied by tea or coffee. My husband wanted Mocha coffee and was told this would be extra and my son wanted hot chocolate and again this was... More

The view from the hotel of the North Sea is great (if you like leaden skies and a battle grey coloured sea). I guess it's a provincial hotel which needs a revamp; having said that the rooms are clean, the bathrooms & towels are fine so no issue with cleanliness. The full breakfast is great although on the whole breakfast... More

We held a large charity ball at the Staincliffe Hotel. The staff were very helpful and accomodating in the run up to the event. Specifically Angela and Sharon who did the amazing room decorating for us. The meal was absolutely beautiful. Soup, beef dinner and cheesecake. It was the nicest function meal I have had in a long time and... More

We stayed for two nights in a standard room Good points • Great view out over the sea • Family and helpful staff • Parking was never a problem and free Bad points • The whole building needs a refurb • Patches of damp in some of the rooms Other • While food is plentiful the quality is pretty low

I would not recommend a stay in this hotel. I booked a suite and what they gave was an insult to the description. The `suite' was tired, the carpet dirty, the shower did not work well and the bathroom was spartan, to say the least. I was in the room five minutes and decided I could not stay in the... More

I stayed in a suite for one night. Good points:- Comfy bed, large room, comfy chaIrs, sea view from large window. Food for room service was plenty and very nice, good sleep.. Bad points:- Damp patches in bathroom, Telephone receiver did not work so had to dial on mobile to order room service. Food I ordered a chicken burger and... More

This is the first one star review I think I have given and I'm so sorry but I do think the hotel needs a wake up call (no pun intended). The staff are (mainly) lovely and I think they try their best but the hotel is falling apart around them. Our room was clean-ish and an okay size for the... More

This has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed at in terms of noise, beyond shabby bedroom, awful food and whilst not the fault of the staff, shocking behaviour and language from wedding guests. However the staff seemed friendly enough. Reception dark with rowdy uncontrolled guests. Corridors small, dark and overly hot. Bedroom small, double bed in corner... More
