We always get a very warm welcome at The Ship Inn. The food is exceptional, really can't praise the staff enough. I would recommend to everyone.

been lots in the past but have recently been going again. new owners serve up brilliabt food to a high standard, good selection of ales, "Ship Lager" very good and quite cheap too. if you go you gotta try the Haggis and Black Pudding Medley for a starter, Yum Yum.

When we arrived at the hotel we really got a warm and friendly welcome from the landlord. The landlady's soup was homemade and full of flavour. All the staff couldn't do enough for you really felt spoilt. Our room was spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. The bathroom room was fully tiled and the power shower was a bonus (not... I have stayed at the ship inn on several occasions through business and with family, and have been made welcome on every single visit. The rooms are clean, warm and well presented, with a comfy double bed, flat screen television, tea & coffee making facilities. The bathroom is adequately sized with a large shower cubicle and fantastic power shower, with... More

Revisited a second time since staying in July 2011 and this time stayed 4 very comfortable nights with lashings of hot water for the power shower. Odd to read of someone's experience with lack of same earlier this year. I hope they had not left a tap running! Delicious food as ever and dinner on 3 evenings enabled me to... More

.A very quite location between Hartlepool and Sunderland 5 mins of A19 ( Castle Eden ) On high ground with country and sea views. Stayed for one night, some of our group had been before and were keen to return. I found the rooms fitted to a very high quality with much attention to detail, but not over large. plenty... More

We arrived at 10.30pm, the rooms were freezing on arrival and the radiator did not come on in the morning either. The hot water supply quickly ran out in the morning so some of our party had to have a cold shower. We mentioned the heating problem to the proprietor who told us that it was because we arrived late... More

We stayed here for 1night what an amazing stay. The food was outstanding better than any other a la carte restaurant we have dined at, staff were so friendly and service was second to none in the restaurant, bar service was good with a good choice of drinks. Would 100% recommend the ship inn to anyone wanting a nice relaxing... More
