We were introduced to this gem of a pub very recently by friends, our first meal was the midweek early bird special and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and would recommend the sausage and mash starter (yes a starter), venison and the apple toffee betty. The board changes all the time so there is always something a little... We arrived at just after 9pm and we were greeted warmly by the owner and he offered to make us some food from the bar menu even though they had stopped serving which was much appreciated. The bar and food prices were very reasonable. The owner showed us to our room and went through how everything worked which was a... More

Rooms are top notch and of a high standard both in decor and cleanliness. Owners and staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Warm friendly atmosphere in the pub. Bit disappointed that we ordered fish, chips and mushy peas but were told no mushy peas available when meal arrived. Lovely breakfast though. Would return

we went tonight for the first time after hearing several good reviews but also cries of "oooh a bit pricey" a look on this website showed a mixture of good and bad reviews so we were unsure what to expect. We got what we expected and more.... traditional English village pub and traditional décor ,,,, we were worried about how... More

Decided last minute to have a weekend away with my husband as we were both off work. It was a bank holiday and this proved to be difficult as everywhere seemed to be booked up. We eventually came across the Ship Inn, we decided to book the larger room namely Crows Nest Cottage and glad we did. It is a... More

Having booked (and paid for) a room one month in advance I was astounded and disgusted on arrival to be told very aggressively by Sheila (the owner) that I had no room booked. This was despite my showing her the email confirmation of booking and informing her that the money had indeed left my account one month prior. As I... More

My friend and I booked to stay as we were coming for a wedding nearby on Sat 1 June. We booked through their website and monies taken from my friend's bank account on 16 May. On arrival we wanted to get checked in, freshened up and ready for the wedding, only to be told we weren't booked in! My friend... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in April 2013. Our room was clean but dowdy looking. We were woken up each of 3 nights by the other guests ... from a work crew. Not 4 Star quality as you can even hear the people talking in the next room. The evening meals were excellent as were the breakfasts. We tried many of... More
