Been staying here for years and after a couple of years away it was lovely to find it just the same - only better. You can't beat the location, the room had been refurbished with comfy beds and linens, and the welcome from Jan, Barry and Ted was as warm as ever. The Rock will forever be one of our... More

The Rock is a a late Victorian building located on the seafront. It is family owned and is a late Victorian building with many of the original interior fitment still intact. The landlady is friendly, down to earth and approachable as is her chef. The hotel, Teddy, loves lots of attention and meeting people too. Some of the rooms have... More

This was our first visit to the Rock, and we were welcomed at the door by Jan the owner with her beautiful Dog Teddy wagging his tail. We entered this lovely old house with wood panelled walls everywhere and shown to our room over looking the Sea with plenty of tea and coffee at our disposal. We didn't get there... More

Jan runs a tidy ship here at Frinton's only hotel. Yes, the rooms and plumbing are a bit dated, but the welcome and care she has for her customers is second to none. We had a fine and large seaview room which was clean and tidy and provided for a good night's sleep with the sound of the waves just... More

A brilliant hotel with great character where you are always made welcome. There is a personal touch which many chain hotels cannot cater for. The views are excellent and the location provides a number of restaurants just walking distance away. There is no local hotels like it- I would strongly suggest the Rock when visiting Frinton.

We had been invited by friends to Frinton Cricket Week. This is usually great fun and a somewhat boozey affair so we needed somewhere to stay overnight. We booked the four posted bed in the top room with glorious sea views. We arrived at about mid-day and parked up on the grass lawn car park in the blazing sun. On... More

We agree that this hotel could do with some updating and with it would have achieved a very good rating. We were made very welcome indeed and enjoyed our night stop. The hotel is just a short walk into Frinton and our large room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The full english breakfast was outstanding and the... More

I booked this hotel for a evening stay , as my husband had just got over heart surgery, we had intentions of staying for longer, however I really can not understand the filth of the room, the family dog sitting in the bar area was a no go and we love dogs.. The guests that have written positive comments makes... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night on 28th July, whilst visiting friends in the area. At £125 for the 4 poster bedroom, this was absolute top dollar for a place that is firmly stuck in the 1970's. So much could be done to modernise this hotel and make it attractive, but I guess there is little appetite to... More

We stayed in one if the rooms overlooking the seafront and coming from London it was lovely to wake up to the views each day. A short walk to the golf club, tennis club and Connaught avenue it was a lovely long weekend and we were lucky with the weather so spent a lot of time walking along the beach.... More
