Stumbled across The Rock Hotel whilst driving around Frinton on sea looking for somewhere to stay for the night. Lucky for us they had a vacancy! Stayed in Room 2 which was a very comfortable larger than average room with lovely sea views. Nothing was too much trouble for Jan the owner and chef Barry(not forgetting the adorable Ted!) After... As the other reviewers have said this is an old fashioned hotel and the only hotel in Frinton. Although the decor is from decades gone by, the room was spotless and the bed comfy. Excellent breakfast too. We stayed one night and had a fantastic view of the sea and a dramatic storm during the night.

Booked at the last minute and very helpful. Jan the owner is wonderful always on hand with great knowledge of the area. The hotel is great, a superb Victorian building with lots of original features. We loved it and it lovingly cared for by the owner and her staff. If you want minimalistic modern this is not for you. The... More

We were made very welcome from the moment we stepped in! The bedroom was beautifully set out for our lovely of 2 adults and 2 children. The beds were very nicely made with crisp white sheets. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order, lovely selection of juices and an endless amount of toast offered with Tiptree jams and marmalades. Lovely,... More

We stayed a night and were very pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed our stay. Certainly the surroundings are dated a mix of 70's and Victorian wood panelling but all rather welcoming and perfectly comfortable. Our room was certainly quite 70's but the bed was comfortable. the room was. clean with a marvellous sea view, nice comfortable chairs altogether very... More

We decided at the last minute to stay at the Rock Hotel. We could hardly believe our luck ! The views from all the windows are simply lovely. The two rooms we had, had very comfortable beds, and all the basic amenities we needed. This is not a super fancy, updated hotel - rather it is a charming throw back... More

So having decided to go down to the coast last minute we knew we were going to have a bit of trouble finding somewhere to stay overnight and to also squeeze 5 of us in one family room. As soon as I called Jan nothing was too much trouble she had a family room for us and was happy to... More

We went to a friends birthday bash and decided to stay overnight. There is only one hotel in frinton and I knew when I phoned up to book the owner Jan was quite a character. I read the reviews on here and thought it wasn't too terrible. I think the owner is so nice they don't want to hurt her... More

We stayed at this gem of a hotel recently, and wish we had discovered it before. Lovely clean bedroom with masses of storage space and a large window for a great sea-view. The ensuite was a bit cramped, but fully functional so no problem. The manager is a delightful lady and very hospitable. Nothing is too much trouble either for... More

Delightful family-run hotel with a very warm welcome. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Cosy lounge bar to relax. Beautiful seaviews and an unspoilt quiet seaside town. A real gem of a find! We will return!
