Strange smelling rooms and some of the worst food I've ever been served! Avoid this creepy awful hotel, not worth £80 a night at all.
I have just returned from a trip to Sevenoaks with my hockey team, the Royal Oak proved to be a good base for our team. The location of the hotel at the "top end" of the high street gave us easy access to The Vine cricket club (base for the Veterans Hockey Festival), Sevenoaks School and Hollybush Lane. The hotel...

I stayed here only 1 night but I was very disappointed with the facilities for the cost of £70.
My first impression was positive with a great receptionist (same the next morning) but the restaurant and room let this place down big time. The restaurant menu consisted of just 4 starters and 4 mains and were very "traditional" and unadventurous....

Stayed here two years ago & never got round to writing a review so am doing it now. I stayed here with my husband with a special offer voucher for £50/night for 2 nights. Even then it wasn't worth it. When we went into the room it smelled musty & the decor was tatty. I phoned reception & made a...

Ive been staying here for several years on and off. I am told it has changed hands recently, it appears for the worse.
Phil the manager is no longer there and it appears hes not been replaced with anyone, such a shame as it was him that seemed to hold it together.
Food and Service was awful, and the room...

Regret that I have to agree with most of the negative reviews, and actually laughed out loud when I saw that someone else had used the Fawlty Towers analogy - totally my experience. On the plus side, very convenient for the town centre (although quite a steep hill if you're walking with luggage from the train station), the room was...

Stayed at the the hotel for a business meeting at one of the restaurants in the centre. Location fantastic. The hotel on the other hand is in much need of some renovation and there are much better quality hotels for the price. The bedroom area was clean but shabby. The bathroom very grotty - shower barely even dripped when turned...

My wife and I held our wedding reception here in September and were very grateful to Phil and his team for all their help in planning the day. They accommodated our every requirement and helped ensure the day went smoothly.
I would agree with other reviews that there are aspects of the hotel that could do with updating, but as...

Whilst the staff were polite and the restaurant area smart, the hotel rooms left much to be desired. Though clean, they were very tired. Items described as available in all rooms on the website were missing. Floor board were very creaky and noisy and carpets frayed. Breakfast was a very entertaining experience and very obviously understaffed. Overpriced.
For this part of the South East the prices are fair, within 5 mins all the pubs and restaurants of town this has to be the attraction, the downstairs (in common with many hotels) looks first class, the room was tired the bathroom was like onefrom an old Butlins chalet.
I wish I had a video camera at breakfast, one...
