We stayed in one of the self-catering cottages. Idyllic setting, great facilities, and very clean. Lorraine is a lovely landlady. Rains Farm is the ideal base for exploring this part of Yorkshire (coast, Rievaulx abbey, Hole of Horcum, Helmsley, among others). We only missed the chocolate other visitors were praising in the guestbook....Overall, highly recommended.

This was our second visit to rains farm and if anything it was even better!. Lorraine has rehashed the sitting room and is now a sitting room come kitchen. Get Lorraine to tell some stories about being a landlady in her own inimical way. They will send you on your way with a smile on your face. We shall be... More

Thank you for writing a review of your stay here, I am glad you appreciated my funny stories about running a B&B! It has to be my main ambition in life to make people happy when staying here, then the rest is easy. I hope you come and stay again as we seemed to have the same wicked sense of... More

This year was our sixth stay in the self catering cottages, which speaks for itself. Comfortable, well equipped and with good parking, we know that we will have a very relaxing time. There is a variety of cottages to choose from, each having different facilities, but all of good quality. The location means easy access to a whole lot of... More

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. You are always a joy to accommodate and you obviously appreciate our central position for the sights and attractions in the area. The wildlife here is amazing and over the years has adjusted to having guests on the property until they carry on their normal lives offering everyone... More

We had a very pleasant week in Orchard Cottage at Rains Farm. Lorraine was there to welcome us and show us round the cottage. It was clean, spacious and well equipped. The cottage accommodates five people – a double room and a large room with three single beds. The cottages are situated round a courtyard where we were able to... More

Thank you for your wonderful review. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again sometime in the future. We do have lots of wildlife here at the farm. The Little Owl as usual has reared her young on the corner of the roof of our farmhouse. She is very active at present and can... More

We managed to make time for a short break and Lorraine was amazingly flexible when it came to organising our stay. Rains Farm is a lovely setting, our only negative was that we didn't have more time to explore and enjoy the surroundings. Our cottage was beautifully prepared and Lorraine personally made sure we had everything we needed. I'd certainly... More

Excellent place to stay, quiet rural surroundings. Great base for Dalby forest and the coast and the village of Thornton le Dale. We stayed last minute for 1 night felt very welcome. We stayed in Dove cottage and it was really lovely. Fantastic breakfast the next morning, choice excellent, nothing too much trouble for Lorraine. Would highly recommend.

This is a lovely place to stay and Lorraine is the perfect host. The accomodation was excellent and the food plentiful, good quality and nicely presented. We loved the little seating area outside and the general calm ambience of the surroundings. A good base for exploring all the North Yoprkshire has to offer. Thanks Lorraine soory it's taken so long... More

Lovely place to stay Lorraine is very hospitable and cannot do enough for you. The breakfasts are very good, extensive menu and good well cooked food. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We have stayed at the farm for three years and have booked again for next year. Thanks once again Lorraine.
