Stayed for one night sat 18th oct. Room was basic but clean, huge comfortable bed. Black bull hosts very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely, hot, fresh and plentiful. Went in to pickering on sat night but we wished we had stayed in black bull to eat as the food looked lovely and was very popular judging by customers. Would... More

My family and I choose the Black Bull Inn for an evening meal, it didn't look like much from the outside but was very cosy with the fire lit, and a great place for food, I fair enjoyed the atmosphere and my haddock was one of the best i've had. Service was great and helpful

My hubby booked 2 nights here as we were going to flamingo land and travelling down from Scotland. We had a good stay here, the accommodation is basic, chalet type rooms. Clean enough, but could have been a bit more attention round windows as they were quite grotty looking, but everything else was fine. Shower, sink, bed etc all very... More

When you eat & drink the chances are you want the toilet afterwards at some point, but if you happen to be a full time wheelchair user you can't do this when visiting this establishment because they don't have a big enough disabled toilet in the building, The pub itself was extremely dirty & tatty.

My friends and I visited here for dinner .On entering the car park we noticed an over powering smell which was pleasant. The pub inside is drab , unwelcoming and no atmosphere at all .After being sat for a while we realised that the one member of waiting staff wasn't coming over to give us menu nor take an order... We stayed last night and I must say I was rather dissapointed... We was greeted by what seemed like children who were understaffed and rushed off their feet meaning they had no time to explain anything to us at all we were given a key a pointed to the room from a distance. When we got in the room it... More

I wanted a place where there was safe parking, good hand pulled beer ,good food and pleasant accommodation. The Landlord & his wife are transforming the place with very good staff , excellent food at night & huge breakfasts. The rooms are clean but there are plans to modernise. Yes I would readily stay there again when I next visit... More

Fortunately my husband and I purchased a half price offer from our local radio for a 1 night stay, if we had paid full price we would have demanded a refund. On arrival we were shown to our accom, the room was drab, no valance or pillowcases on the bed. Cobwebs everywhere and generally unclean. However pillowcases were supplied once... More

We found this pub on our last night of staying in a cottage in Pickering. We had an excellent meal and were disappointed that we hadn't found it sooner. The staff were very efficient and attentive, and the food was excellent - we had chicken goujons and soup to start, with gammon and steak and ale pie for mains. Just... More

After having a bad experience at another campsite we were pleasantly surprised when we found this little gem of a place. We went to have lunch in the Black Bull pub when my husband notice that there was a campsite at the back of the pub and luckily they had a pitch for us for 3 nights. It is a... More
