This pub has been recently refurbished and was pretty quiet in the early afternoon we visited. Speciality is the 'loaf tin' Yorkshire pudding with a range of fillings. Quality of food was good and prices reasonable. It also had a decent choice of beers on tap. All in all a decent place to stop for lunch if you are passing.

The land lord walked past and said nothing. Playing on his mobile phone. We ordered a tea and the milk pot was filthy and seemed unwashed. We ordered food and... More

After our miserable experience in the hotel down the road we popped in here for a bite to eat and a pint. We were welcomed by a very helpful barmaid/landlady? and a roaring log fire. There was an extensive menu being served all day. We both chose the warm beef baguette. We couldn't believe the size of them when they... More

Stayed for one night sat 18th oct. Room was basic but clean, huge comfortable bed. Black bull hosts very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely, hot, fresh and plentiful. Went in to pickering on sat night but we wished we had stayed in black bull to eat as the food looked lovely and was very popular judging by customers. Would... More
