I'm glad we picked 17 Burgate. We actually didn't intend being in Pickering at all and only "diverted" to try it based on the reviews. The owners were helpful and friendly and the rooms spacious and very comfortable with features in excess of most big hotels, let alone guest houses. Location for town centre is also good. My only small... more

Thanks for taking the time to post a review-it is appreciated, especially from such well travelled guests. Control of check in time is important to us but there is flexibility by arrangement. We are happy to check guests in whenever they arrive if we are around-sorry if this was not communicated effectively. We are happy for guests to use the front...

Pickering was our second stop on our short trip around Yorkshire and there's no doubt, 17 Burgate was absolutely the right place to stay! The tiny little street around the back that led to the car park was a touch difficult to find at first, and you probably wouldn't want to drive a luxe barge down it, but parking was... more

We spent one night at 17 Burgate after doing a lot of research into B&B's in the area. We were not disappointed as previous reviews were accurate. We stayed in room 12 that is a superior suite. The room is open plan with a sitting area that has plush leather sofas and TV/DVD. The bathroom is large and modern with... more

We were most impressed with the stay we had here.....it was faultless and there was nothing we would have changed given the opportunity to do so. The breakfast was lovely and there was a good variety and you could ask if you wanted to vary the menu at all,so why others have moaned about this on other reviews beats me!!!???... more

The room was large and very well decorated, great attention to detail. Lovely big bathroom, with great finishing touches and extremley clean. Garden was beautiful to have your welcome cake and tea. Cannot fault the place, just wish we were able to stay more than 1 night. more

We enjoyed a 2 night weekend stay at 17 Burgate in May and both thoroughly enjoyed it. The Suite was perfect, with small details provided which make all the difference to a stay at a B+B. Bathrobes, Gilchrist+Soames soaps/shampoos, attentive service to name but a few. Breakfast was spot on, it is really your own call whether to have as... more

Just wanted to say thank you to William and Pat for a great night at this fantastic B&B. We enjoyed our stay from start to finish, with very welcoming and friendly service. The Georgian interior of the building was great, as was the garden patio, and bar area (with good and well-priced wine and beer). The suite itself was well... more

A very comfortable B & B. We had a room in the Wing. It was not particularly spacious, but big enough for a short stay and the walk-in shower was great! The hotel is very conveniently situated for eating out. There are numerous places within easy walking distance. We found all three that we tried were very good. There is... more

I was a liitle worried about staying at a B&B as I had an image of floral duvets and old tea maids! Not at burgate 17! This place is trendy, but chilled out. Our room was lovely and the owners were very helpful. We stayed there to access the steam train, Burgate is literally round the corner. We will definatley... more

Room 11 is spacious and very well appointed. The huge bed is supremely comfortable and dressed with high quality bedding. The room, with its high ceiling and stunning coving, looks out over the rear garden. The ensuite bathroom is very well furnished with a power shower over the partially sunken bath. The Gilcrest and Soames toiletries were much appreciated (even... more
