Called in for a quick pint, decided to have a sandwich en route to a meeting. Mediocre sandwich, and grossly overpriced ale - to the extent it was almost a pound a pint over the general price, in the area for the same stuff! Staff were more interested in discussing the hi-tech till, which was, when they got the hang... More

Had to ring beforehand to enquire if parking available as couldn't find this on website. No charge which is an added bonus these days. Check in was a little slow as one person was checking in and showing people to rooms. Similar on check out. Slightly disappointed with the size of the vintage room for the price. It was a... More

We have just had another lovely weekend at the White Swan - We stay in a hideaway room at the rear of the hotel with our little dog!! We love it there as we are always made to feel welcome and our dog loves all the fuss and attention!!! The room is large and spacious with a lovely bathroom and... More

I to had the lamb chops and they were tough and although asking for medium rare they were almost raw . I was told it may have been something to do with the water bath they were cooked in . Anothe meal was produced and the veg was the same but had been put on standby., not good and was... More

We enjoyed a 2 night stay here to celebrate my husband's birthday - not allowed to say which one! We had a Hideaway room as we had our border collie with us. I thought the room was good - comfy bed, nice bed linen and towels, lovely bathroom - bit mean with toiletries, I hadn't brought body lotion and there... More

The Hideaway Treat was booked to celebrate my birthday. On the downside, the underfloor heating in the bathroom suite wasn't working, the door from the suite lobby into the lounge area was sticking badly on the stone floor and when I tried to use the phone to report both of the previous issues that didn't work either. Lighting in the... More

very expensive meal with very ordinary food, served over cooked and late! Do not eat here! Rack of Lamb consisted of 4 smallish chops, tough, plus one hard roast potato, and a few feeble Vegs for £25! Extra for soup, (mediocre).

The welcome at The White Swan was first class and throughout our stay the staff were attentive and helpful. We had a Hideaway Room in the courtyard which was very comfortable and spacious. Opposite these rooms is a residents' Snug with comfortable sofas and armchairs with teas and coffees available all day. Dogs are made very welcome too. It is... More

Received a warm welcome at this ancient coaching inn, which is beautifully decorated and preserved. I was shown to a very comfortable room and bathroom overlooking the market street. It had lots of great toiletries and plenty of soft towels. Also a large flat-screen TV, magazines, good tea and coffee making equipment. The breakfast was superb, plenty of choice, lots... More

Quite nice, definitely the best in the neighbourhood. Very friendly, good food, very old and traditional but with acceptable facilities and services. Plenty of car parking 'through the arch' behind the hotel. Service sometimes can be a little slow, bar staff sometimes missing 'multi tasking', but if you are really in such a hurry maybe you shouldn't have come to... More
