While staying in Pickering we visited the Black Swan twice for food. On each occasion the food was excellent. If you want fine dining forget this pub but if you want good pub grub then the Black Swan cannot be beaten and the home cooked chips are to die for!!! Prices are around the £9 mark which if about average... More

Had an evening meal here over the 60's weekend in June. Was very busy but we managed to get a table as soon as they opened for food. The dining area is very small, but cosy and clean. The menu has a good 'pub grub' selection and a specials board. Prices are average and in keeping with portion sizes. I... More

Recently returned from a week in Pickering and ate in this pub 3 times. We could find no fault with the food or portion sizes. Everything we tried was just as it should be plus the staff were both helpful and friendly. Will certainly eat here again if the opportunity arises

I visited this pub this Saturday with a few of my friends as we were interested in hiring the venue for a gay couple's stag do coming up in June. We were directed to the Landlord to inquire about the booking. Upon politely stating our request we were immediately and extremely firmly asked to leave. The landlord addressed all of... More

Didn't stay at the pub, but went recently for a meal, and tend to agree with most of the other reviews in that we thought the food and staff were great, but the place is long overdue a revamp. With a little tweaking it could be a stunning venue, and would probably set it up as a main contender with... More

The pub provides simple, but delicious, home cooked food. The prices are reasonable and the waiting staff very friendly. The actual pub does look a bit run down, but the food is great. Overall, it is worth a visit.

Just arrived back home after visiting the Black Swan hotel in Pickering. I did actually intend to visit here as I had heard good things about the food. What the reviews neglect to say is just how warm and friendly the atmosphere is inside and especially the friendliness of the staff and bar manager (Nadine). The two of us were... More

I dont normally do these review thing but I visited the Black swan for the first time to have Lunch with some friends and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. We recently visited the Black Swan for a family meal. The food was really excellent, Both orders from the main menu and the specials were of an excellent standard. The food was very well cooked and attractively presented and the service was friendly and efficient. The portions are substantial but not overfacing. The pub decor is a little tired, although...
