I went there for lunch today with my family. It has one of those really annoying (in a good way) menus where you can't decide what you want because it all sounds amazing (and spying on other diners' choices, looked amazing too). In the end I went for the chorizo and manchego burger, and when I asked for hot sauce... More

The food at this pub is soooo good!! We were on holiday when we went and was told to try it out and we are very glad we did. The service was also very down to earth & cheerful. A really pleasant evening. Thank you

We met the owner almost by accident, but soon became customers, enjoying a really nice coffee. However the evening which followed, in company with our friends, exceeded expectations. The choice of real ales delighted the men, and food was excellent, but above all the service and the friendliness were a complete joy.

Visited Pickering for a day and were looking for somewhere dog friendly- so glad we found the Black Swan. Our dog was made very welcome with his own water dish and biscuits from the staff. Our food was excellent with assorted platters and chorizo burgers. My husband was particularly impressed with the generous samples of ale he was offered while... More

My wife and I recently visited North Yorkshire and we stayed a couple of nights in the Pickering area. We decided to eat out and and having looked at most of the pubs and restaurants in the centre of the town decided to try the Black Swan. We were initially pleased with the warm and pleasant welcome we received and... More

While staying in Pickering we visited the Black Swan twice for food. On each occasion the food was excellent. If you want fine dining forget this pub but if you want good pub grub then the Black Swan cannot be beaten and the home cooked chips are to die for!!! Prices are around the £9 mark which if about average... More

Had an evening meal here over the 60's weekend in June. Was very busy but we managed to get a table as soon as they opened for food. The dining area is very small, but cosy and clean. The menu has a good 'pub grub' selection and a specials board. Prices are average and in keeping with portion sizes. I... More

Recently returned from a week in Pickering and ate in this pub 3 times. We could find no fault with the food or portion sizes. Everything we tried was just as it should be plus the staff were both helpful and friendly. Will certainly eat here again if the opportunity arises

I visited this pub this Saturday with a few of my friends as we were interested in hiring the venue for a gay couple's stag do coming up in June. We were directed to the Landlord to inquire about the booking. Upon politely stating our request we were immediately and extremely firmly asked to leave. The landlord addressed all of... More
