We stayed here as a britstop member and boy we were not disappointed. So much so we stayed extra nights. At a small charge of £10 for an extra night and electric hook up is available. Lovely cooked breakfast is also available at a reasonable rate. It's a pleasant 15 minute walk into Pickering and to the steam railway station... More

Stumbled across Lowther House whilst out walking. It was late in the day and we were unsure if they were still open but the owners gave us a very friendly welcome and assured us that as long as the sun is shining, they will serve food in the garden. Stunning surroundings and the good is delicious. Perfect way to spend... More

We stayed overnight as members of the Britstops club and could not have had more friendly and welcome service. The gardens are beautifully kept with tables, chairs and shaded seating as required. The added bonus of an adjacent stream and steam trains passing is quite nostalgic. The menu was very reasonable and from what we saw of the indoor dining... More

My wife & I walked down the path below Pickering Castle to try Lowther House today, hoping for a breakfast treat. What we found could not have been better. A beautiful garden setting, perfectly laid out and beautifully maintained, a small, simple menu from which was delivered carefully made and beautifully presented food. With a sense of style, a picture... More

I've worked around Pickering for years and needed a place to stay for a short weekend. Great find... Just far enough out of Pickering to be away from the crowds but easy walking distance. Excellent breakfasts and hosts. Handy for the steam railway too and you can watch them pass as you eat breakfast outside! Reasonably priced, although wouldn't want... More

We stopped here yesterday briefly for a quick brew and couldn't resist a scone to go with it. The rest of the home made cakes looked amazing. A well stocked choice of refreshments and very friendly owners. Would go back next time we're in the area.

I use to be the proprietor of this place and built it up from just being an ordinary country house owned by the Dutchy and became very popular and liked by all who stayed with us .The new proprietors have continued to keep this place a very much loved place to stay with its beautiful gardens and tea room (Once... 2 room B&B with tea garden. Relaxing stay, comfy bed, charming hosts, lovely garden. About 15 minutes level walk into the centre of Pickering and the steam railway. Trains can be seen from the garden which was a bonus for my husband. Breakfast freshly prepared and with a good choice. Tea & coffee in the room with a small fridge... More

Paul & Tula have given us a warm welcome and very comfortable room on two visits, would not want to stay anywhere else. Food served in the garden in summer is wonderful, with the babbling brook and passing steam trains as soundtrack. Within easy walking distance of the town but quiet at night so you can hear the owls. Roll... More

We stayed here for one night over the recent bank holiday the setting is just perfect with exceptional hosts who make you feel totally at home. The food was of a very high standard and the gardens were to die for with a little brook running just to the left go the garden. 5 star Kev
