We stayed with friends in Heron View Cottage as a base to explore North Yorkshire but to be honest you do not have to leave the site! The facilities were wonderful & the owners obviously work very hard to ensure you are warmly welcomed & that you have a great stay. Everything you need is to hand or you only... More

This was a perfect family holiday for our family of 2 adults and two girls aged 10 and 5 years. We stayed in Leat Cottage with two bedrooms, large bathroom and lovely kitchen and spacious living room. The cottage was well equipped, and all appliances were up to date and easy to use. We used the pool, which was great... More

Very lovely picturesque location. Cottage was nice. The owners were very helpful. There is a great play area for the children to use. The only issue was that the cottage needs hot water though, not luke warm!

Terribly sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at Low Costa Mill and that you feel hot water wasn't available and/or to a satisfactory standard. All 7 of the cottages have hot water heated by immersion heater, both overnight by the bottom element, and on-demand by the top element. Typically the top element heats the hot water within 15-minutes. We don't... More

Just come back from another amazing holiday here. It's such a lovely location and the grounds are well maintained. Tracey always gives you a warm welcome when you arrive and makes you feel like an old friend. Her husband ( whoops names aren't my strong point) is lovely too and is lovely to talk too. The cottage is lovely and... More

We stayed with my son's family including our 1year old granddaughter in a beautiful two bedrooms cottage. The site is an excellent location having lots of space to play, woodland walk, friendly animals and, best of all, an indoor pool to enjoy just a cross the courtyard from us. The owners were very helpful and friendly the whole place being... More

14 of us stayed here at Easter in Heron & Granary cottages to celebrate a 40th & 50th Birthday in our family... what a great base for our Easter weekend! The owners went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay and even laid on an Easter Egg Hunt for the children which was... More

I just got back from a long weekend at Low Costa Mill and I have absolutely no complaints. The new owners are very welcoming and did a brilliant job at making my stay as enjoyable as possible. The pool facilities are well kept, along with the grounds and cottages. As I was there over the Easter break, an Easter egg... More

We've just returned from our first stay at Low Costa Mill. It won't be our last. We picked the location for two reasons. One, we wanted to get away for a short break and Low Costa Mill was recommended to us and two, to revisit some of the haunts of my youth, such as Castle Howard, Scarborough and York. We... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestling in ten acres of woodland & pasture, Low Costa Mill Holiday Cottages are set in a stunning, rural location, with the mill stream gently flowing along the boundary of the estate.Grouped around & adjacent to the Low Costa Mill farmhouse, a collection of seven cottages have been skillfully & sympathetically adapted from former farm & mill buildings. The cottages retain many original features, such as exposed beams & brickwork, these cottages make an ideal base for families, small groups & couples, or for anyone who appreciates the peace & tranquillity of the countryside. Dave and Tracy, the resident owners, occupy the farmhouse and are always on-hand for help and advice. We will provide any high chairs or cots required and will do our utmost to ensure your stay is enjoyable. With the feeling of being removed from a bustling modern lifestyle, the cottages are actually only 1.5 miles from the historic market town of Pickering and on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors. The cottages benefit from being set in 10 acres of gardens and woodlands. A large lawn provides an area for relaxing, playing games including giant snakes and ladders, hopscotch or draughts. A climbing frame, swings and garden toys should keep the children entertained allowing the adults to relax. No kids, or just need a break from your own? Then head past the stables and over Costa Beck to sit in the peace and quiet overlooking the tumbling beck. The on-site swimming pool is for the benefit of the cottage occupants only and provides many hours enjoyment for the kids. In fact combined with the climbing frame, garden games and woodland walk many of our guests spend the whole day without even thinking of leaving the site. ... more   less
