Stayed here for a week with family. 6 adults, two children and a dog! The location is superb and the grounds are well cared for, our grandson loved the playground, but, there is no direct garden access for the dog or children. There is a walled garden but it is not visible from the cottage so children and dogs need... More

Thank you for posting your review regarding your stay with us last week. It was indeed unfortunate that the shower pump failed on the Monday. When you first reported the water dripping through the ceiling we thought it was as a result of a spill in the bathroom above as had happened on an occasion 3 weeks before. As soon... More

Another great stay at Hungate Cottages in Pickering (our fourth stay, all in different cottages all excellent). The weather was cool over Easter so we appreciated the new log burning stove and the chance to bring our new dog to Hungate for the first time. Would recommend Hungate for location, amenities, welcome and service.

Thanks for posting your review. Like you, we think the log-burners are great and we will gradually introduce them to other cottages as and when budgets allow!! So glad you enjoy coming to Hungate and hope to see you for a fifth visit. PS Sorry about the cool Easter. It's the one thing we have no control over! More

Despite once saying 'we never stay anywhere twice..' we have now had holidays here seven or eight times over the past five years - which shows how highly we regard Pickering and Hungate Cottages as a holiday location. Pickering is a friendly and self-sufficient market town with lots of attractions: the steam railway, the castle, the amazing church, antique shops,... More

How kind of you - spare our blushes. We do try to make a stay at Hungate a bit special and we're proud that you have broken your "no place more than once" rule. Makes us think we're getting most things right. Hope to see you again in the future and don't forget the chutney!! More

We chose Hungate Garden cottage as we though it would have ideal accommodation for all our family and we weren't disappointed. It was spacious, spotless and well equipped. We had wonderful weather and the chidren loved playing in the garden when we weren't out sightseeing. Pickering is an excellent centre for visiting the Yorkshire coast and the city of York.... More

We booked 3 cottages for a 70th birthday celebration. All were very well appointed, clean and tidy. There were flowers and some milk- also a collection of Easter eggs (being Easter weekend). This was a really nice touch and much appreciated by the grandchildren! The gardens were well maintained and full of daffodils.

We're so pleased that your time with us was a success - given all the military-style effort you put in to arrange it! Hope to see you all again for the next big celebration. More

House was clean and very well equipped. Location was excellent and loads of local information provided by the owners who were available most of the time for advice about local amenities, shopping and days out. Swimming pass and Dalby Forest pass a bonus and we used both several times.

Hungate cottages are hidden away just off the main street of Pickering. It was great being so close to the town centre and easy walking to the good choice of pubs and restaurants, but at the same time staying in the cottage set in beautiful gardens, where it was so peaceful. We stayed in Danbydale which had everything we needed... More

My fiancée booked 3 of the cottages for my surprise 40th birthday weekend and I have to say they were fantastic. We had Hungate Garden Cottage (5 Bed), Ellerbeck (2 Bed) and The Carrs (2 bed) and they were spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Jerry and Babs were lovely and extremely helpful and knowledgeable and made us feel very... More

We stayed in two of the cottages for Christmas Week and loved it. We were 8 people traveling together and it was a great choice for us. We were just steps from each other and were able to visit back and forth all the time. What a great time to stay at Hungate. They organized a night of singing carols... More
