We were delighted with from start to finish with our visit to The Portcullis. It's wonderful delicious pub food, generous portions that are amazing value! Our waitress Nerissa was attentive, charming and lovely, we had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful!

I eat here often and the staff are always happy to sre you.The food is always superb. The lasagne is my favourite but everything on the menu is tasty. Home cooked food at its best. Always a great atmosphere and it's even better when the coal fire is on in the winter.

All staff were very extremely helpful. Good range of food for breakfast, and also in the restaurant. Amazing old building in a good location next to the castle. Room well appointed, only challenge was the creaky floors, which meant we heard every other guest coming and going from their rooms all night.

We had lunch at the Portcullis Hotel before visiting Stirling Castle. The restaurant is akin to a pub, but one with excellent service and quality food (the meat in the meat pie was superlative). Recommended before of after visiting Stirling Castle, or anytime one is in the area.

Visited here for our wedding anniversary, And it's just lovely. Right next to the castle and free parking out front which is a huge bonus. It's old and quirky inside and full of character. Staff are very friendly. We stayed in room 2. It was clean and comfortable. Also small and quirky which personally we loved. With excellent views! Alot... More

My husband and I stayed at the Portcullis in March a couple years ago. We were haphazardly travelling around the country by car and stumbled in on a blustery day for some coffee and ended up staying for a night and driving back from the highlands just to eat at the restaurant one last time before heading back to Canada.... The Hotel is located just below Stirling Castle, at the top of the main hill - great location (if you're fit !). There are a handful of parking spaces at the front, which were all occupied with lunchtime guests when we arrived at 2.30pm but one of the staff kindly offered to move her car out and let me in,... Our trip to Scotland was amazing and staying at Portcullis was part of the allure. Our Scottish friends recommended we stay there and they steered us to a lovely experience. Jamie and all of the staff were wonderful. The food was delicious and the staff had a willingness to accommodate special food needs: gluten free, vegetarian, etc. The location is... More

Stayed at this fantastic base over New Year 2012 - Jim and Lynn are fantastic hosts who made us feel very welcome. This hotel has a fantastic menu and the food is amazing. I have to say, I love the steaks. We spent New Year 2011/12 here and had our wee Bichon Frise puppy with us which wasn't a problem... More

Stayed at the Portcullis to break up a long drive from Inverness to Gloucester. This hotel has the most incredible character. It's an 18th century grammar school right up against the castle. The views out over Stirling are incredible. The rooms are cosy and well looked after. The restaurant is comfortable and the food is good but definitely Glasgow style.... More
