The portcullis hotel stands next to Stirling castle. Having visited there we just wanted to pop into a pub for a quick drink before moving on. Going in at 5pm we were greeted by friendly bar staff who happily helped my husband choose a local ale. Not planning on eating until we got back to Glasgow the delightful young lady... More

Visited here on Friday night for a birthday meal. Nice little place. Food was very good. Prices seemed fair. Only a little issue with lack of service after finishing main courses but I would not let this put me off and will more than likely return.

We stopped in Stirling on our way up to Keith and stayed here. We checked in and were shown to a small but well equipped room. It comes with all the things you would expect, TV, Tea and Coffee and bathroom supplies. The room was light, clean and airy. Downstairs is a great little pub, with a nice pub garden.... More

Stayed 1 night. The real advantage of this pub/hotel is its location right next to Stirling castle. Our room was small and basic, but we slept well. The pub is nice with standard pub food and a very nice beer garden if the weather is warm/good enough for it. There’s also some free parking right outside (for about 7 cars)... More

Visited this hotel whilst visiting Stirling Castle. We ate from the snack menu and sat in the lovely seating area outside. The food was lovely, and well priced. Didn't have to waiting for the food to bright and was served by a lovely blonde hair young girl who was polite and friendly and is a gem to the business. Excellent... More

Our son and family were up on holiday from Hants so we drove through to the Park and Ride outside of Stirling and had lunch here before visiting the castle. The food was tasty, the bar staff friendly and the Gents toilet condition better than average. A good starting point for the castle which is virtually next door.

Had a lovely stay here. Food was very good and staff was very welcoming. Would stay here again. If you are visiting Stirling castle then this is the no brainier choice of a place to book. There is also a beer garden out the back which is very pleasant.

We spent three nights here in July. The main reason for our visit to Scotland was to attend the Open Golf Championship at St Andrews, but this was the nearest place we could afford to stay! I would describe it as a pub with rooms rather than a hotel, but you had all you needed here, especially excellent food in... More

Dropped in for lunch on Saturday with the family and managed to get a table straight away. Staff were friendly and it was interesting to be the only Scottish family in the lounge. Made us all feel that we were still on holiday. Menu selection was a blast from the past and fairly basic, which is not always a bad... More

Just outside the castle this lovely old building is worth visiting. Great views and a nice walk up, though maybe not for those with walking difficulties. On the way you'll pass many sites of history and interest. Good value food awaits and depending on the weather this can be taken outside.
