Lovely hotel although we were only there for food. Travelled with our two young grandchildren and we all had fish and chips as part of a High Tea. Excellent food and the staff were great with the kids.

Arrived at hotel to find they had wrong booking information. Good start. Checked Records ( they had checked their printed copies of and confirmed the booking). Manager called by front desk staff - he never even bothers to look at customer-tells staff to change booking. No apology from Manager. Leaves young girl on counter to deal with. This requires going... More

Right in the centre of town and ideal for shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is full of character and in good condition for it's age. All staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Room was large with a modern bathroom and my only criticism was the lack of power in the shower. Breakfast was really good and extra coffee and... More

We arrived for 1 night on a saturday. Location is fantastic, right on the doorstep of all the shops and restaurants. Hotel is a bit dated with the carpets particularly grubby. We ate in the hotel in the evening but were disappointed. The portion sizes were poor and the steak pie had 3 pieces of steak in it, very poor... More

wow. worst breakfast i`ve ever had. everything was obviously reheated. eggs were like rubber, in fact you could have played bouncy ball with them. most things were cold. i`ll not be back for this reason alone.

Not a lot going for this hotel other than its central location. We were here as guests for a wedding and stayed 2 nights. The hotel parking area looks terrible and the hotel entrance from car park is very shabby and dirty. The rooms could do with some freshening up and the carpet and decor in ours was worn. Wifi... Recently went to a wedding in this hotel and the staff were very attentive but the waiting staff seemed poorly trained none of them seemed to know that you serve from the left and clear from the right. The soup was burnt and the lamb was overcooked , dried out and tough I had alerted them to the fact that... More

I was invited by a friend who was staying at the hotel for some refreshments,we arrived late and were met by a burly man who asked us grudgingly what we would like to drink. we ordered our drinks, only to be met with an aggressive and unwelcoming " aye, whatever "i was very disappointed by the very unprofessional service of this so... Booked this place for a meeting of our charity. Really wish we had not bothered. Room wax fine but found staff unhelpful. Tried to get served in bar and waited over 10 minutes. No staff in sight. Went across the street and bought two bacon rolls and took them in. Sandwich lunch arrived and was left uncovered for 30 minutes... More

Our room was very comfortable and spacious. That's the good points dealt with. Breakfast was appalling: Food had clearly been standing in poorly heated containers for some considerable time. Fried eggs were presented cold, sitting in their cooking fat. Haggis that had once been in slices was just a blob of inedible mush in a bowl soaked in condensation. I... More
