Stayed here two nights in June 2009 as part of a large family group, taking up ten rooms. None of us had any complaints, and we all enjoyed our stay. On the plus side: So close to Gatwick, it costs £9.50 in a taxi each way or £3 on a bus. Polite, friendly staff. Extremely clean Modern, stylish and everything... more

Stayed here one night early Feb. Booked through lastminute.com and got a good rate for a double room. Bus runs from Gatwick Airport (£3.00 each way) to the hotel, journey took us about 20 minutes. Nice enough reception area; efficient check-in (although I did think the receptionist might have managed to crack a smile - makes such a difference and... more

We stayed here on the evening of 2nd August having booked though Holiday Extras using the undercover option (where they choose the 4 star hotel) so paid only £71 for room only but including a weeks parking. Refurbished room on ground floor was very comfortable and reception was efficent. Was up for 05.35 bus next morning so didn't get to... more

We stayed here the night before a long flight from Gatwick. It was the ONLY Gatwick hotel we could find that would accomodate 2 adults and 2 teenagers in one room with full-sized beds for them! The room had everything we needed and was very clean. The hotel had character and old-world charm. Inside it was contemporary and very comfortable... more

Three travellers, one twin and one single room. The shuttle bus was fine; check in quick. We got there about 11pm and were told we couldn't get a sandwich at the bar but could if we asked for room service. A manager intervened and we got our sandwich at the bar - and the ham was delicious! The breakfast was... more

We got our one night here "free" before flying out next morning as part of a Virgin package deal. Got so worried reading the earlier horror stories we were half expecting to have to abandon the place on arival and pay our own way elsewehere but decided to give it a chance. It was absolutely fine. Maybe we were lucky... more

We have previously stayed here when it was the Thistle Hotel. Despite the improvements to the reception/restaurant I did not notice any significant alterations. While the reception had undergone a face-lift the service had deteriorated. What had been spent on the 'improvements' must have been saved on staffing costs. There was only one receptionist for both checking-in & checking-out which... more

I checked into this hotel on May 7, 2008 for a one night stay prior to flying out of Gatwick on the 8th. On Wednesday, May 7th the temperature in Horley was around 77 F, i.e. it was hot. The lobby of the Menzies was lovely. Apparently, it was just recently refurbished. I was given a room on the 2nd... more
