Stayed here for one night, it was our second stay and much better than the first. There is ample parking in the hotel car park which is good as the hotel is in the middle of the town. We had tea in the conservatory while waiting for our room as we were early. The tea came but the scones took... More

Stayed at the Spread Eagle Hotel in Midhurst for 2 nights recently whilst attending a wedding at nearby Petersfield. Was allocated the Oak Room on the 1st floor. Comfortable 4 poster bed, tea/coffee making facilities, large bathroom with toiletries. A bit disappointed that the lamps on the dressing table didn't have shades and the oak pannelling in the room looked... More

I only stayed there one night, but I quite enjoyed my time there. The room was nicely decorated, however it was on the top floor and we were extremely hot, even during the night. Breakfast wasn't amazing either, however I liked the fact that it's a historical hotel and in the middle of a very cute village.

I have stayed several times at The Spread Eagle and have enjoyed every one. The hotel is a nicely appointed country house in Midhurst. The location is good with ample parking. The staff are helpful. The rooms clean, well furnished and with good facilities. The restaurant good and the bar quaint. From the hotel the pubs and restaurants of Midhurst... More

Visited the Spreadeagle for afternoon tea on the way to the Polo at Cowdray Park. JJ Pollak the general manager was friendly and very welcoming, it was a warm sunny day and the hotel was very busy. Afternoon tea and sandwiches on the terrace was delightful, the service was very good. I noted that since my last visit how much... More

Had a great value one night Sunday stay here. Deal included dinner bed and breakfast plus £30 spa voucher. Room was lovely if a little tired and looked out onto the courtyard. The spa was small but clean although the sauna wasn't working that day. We had a great sandwich in the wheatsheaf pub just round the corner and their... More

Lovely hotel set in a quiet little town. Staff were good and attentive with a couple of the waitresses one warm evening doing a fantastic job under the watchful eye of the new hotel manager! Bedrooms look as if they are being refurbished at the moment so the garden room we were in was very nice. Food was very nice... More

I returned to the Spread Eagle after a few years' absence and was delighted and surprised! This classic gem has been spruced up so that it still retains its significant ole worlde charme (the wonderful maze-like quality is very much part of that) while providing more modern facilities. My cycling buddy and I booked in for a 'cycling' weekend; the... More

A discerning visitor would have to agree with Hilaire Belloc, the French essayist, poet, travel writer and great friend of G.K. Chersterton, when he described the Spread Eagle as 'that oldest and most revered of all the prime inns of this world.' It is certainly one of the most characterful and historic hostelries in England, having graciously accommodated the glorious... More
