Wonderful one-night stay in the Queen Suite - simply THE most comfortable bed which just happened to be a huge 4-poster. The Queen suite is lovely, spacious, oozing character and has its own 'wig powder closet AD 1430' (must remember to bring wig next time) . Lovely evening stroll over the hill to Midhurst Castle (stunning) and watched a polo... More

We stayed for two nights in this hotel with our Jack Russell. It was his first hotel visit and we were a little nervous. But the staff were friendly and helpful and therefore we relaxed. The hotel itself was a very charming building, with a beautiful bar, dining room and conservatory. The swimming pool and spa was excellent, with a... More

The food was definitely a highlight for me. We had an outstanding evening meal and breakfast was also excellent (the only anomally being that the scrambled eggs weirdly looked like porridge). The room was fine, not particularly big, but given that we were there to explore the countryside and the South Downs Way, that didn't matter at all. I loved... More

I booked this place last minute as part of a large group. The place itself is lovely - very quirky and full of character and there is plenty of parking. I opted for a higher rate room which I was informed by staff was bigger and quieter than the standard rooms. It was an extra £40 and I thought that... More

Very disappointing in terms of value for money. The hotel is leveraging its quaintness and charging London prices for rather downmarket and small rooms. Clearly a great deal of money has been expended on the Spa, in which we were not interested, and they are recovering the cost by overcharging on the rooms. Obviously in a building of this age... Booked a 2 night stay via Pets Pyjamas. Was allocated a traditional room which was very pretty. Enjoyed both afternoon tea and dinner and found staff very attentive and friendly and food delicious. Spa was lovely with a 14m pool and lovely jacuzzi. My husband also used the gym. Great place if you like character and areas very close by... More

to celebrate a wedding anniversary ,we had booked The Queens Suite and made a reservation for dinner. The Suite was dowdy and in urgent need of a face lift,an ice bucket with melted water, held a half bottle of champagne for our arrival ,the champagne was warm. The suite had no charm ,a few flowers would have helped. For dinner,we both ordered... More

Stayed here for one night, it was our second stay and much better than the first. There is ample parking in the hotel car park which is good as the hotel is in the middle of the town. We had tea in the conservatory while waiting for our room as we were early. The tea came but the scones took... More

Stayed at the Spread Eagle Hotel in Midhurst for 2 nights recently whilst attending a wedding at nearby Petersfield. Was allocated the Oak Room on the 1st floor. Comfortable 4 poster bed, tea/coffee making facilities, large bathroom with toiletries. A bit disappointed that the lamps on the dressing table didn't have shades and the oak pannelling in the room looked... More

I only stayed there one night, but I quite enjoyed my time there. The room was nicely decorated, however it was on the top floor and we were extremely hot, even during the night. Breakfast wasn't amazing either, however I liked the fact that it's a historical hotel and in the middle of a very cute village.
