Stay at the Carton for two nights and have no complaints just compliments. A lovely clean warm and homely place to stay. My room was clean with all those little extras that makes it home away from home. The weather was below minus outside but there was no skimping on the heating. The breakfast menu is A****. Everything is close... More

stayed at the Carlton Lodge for one night in February while visiting southport theatre. Christine was very welcoming and friendly. The room was warm and clean with little extras that make your stay easier, tv,hair dryer, tea/coffee facilities, shampoo and shower gel etc. Breakfast was cooked to order with various options available on the menu, it came with a very... On arrival the owner was very friendly and took us up to our rooms. There was six of us staying and we all had different style rooms. The two on the top floor were small but light the other room on the lower floor was dark and small looking out onto some bins. I felt the rooms had a stale... More

I was in Southport on business and was booked in to the hotel by work. The location was fine to get in to the town center or convention center once you got your bearings. The first room I had the window was broken and wouldn't close so I asked to move rooms which they obliged. I was then given a... More

We were welcomed very warmly as we arrived with two fully laden bikes which were locked away securely overnight. The room was clean and bright, the breakfast was good. Hosts were very friendly indeed. The hotel was located close to the seafront and shopping street but was quiet at night. We'd stay their again and recommend it highly. More

My friend and I spent 2 nights at Carlton Lodge whilst going to the Southport Music Weekender at Pontins (hence not much sleep had haha!). The owner (think Christine?) was absolutely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were small but comfortable. Very central location for Lord St and the Promenade. We only managed breakfast on one of the... More

As a mystery visitor I have stayed at and rated many 4 and 5 star hotels that could learn lessons from this simple and inexpensive bed and breakfast establishment. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with 2 easy chairs and everything a guest could want. The downside was the small en-suite but that was offset by plenty of thick,fluffy... More
