If you like to see the same person serving breakfast and tending the late night bar, this will suit you. A small family run place, old fashioned decor, steep stairs, corridors on several levels. We had a large room on the front, massive old furniture gave it character, beds had pretty trimmings. Bathroom tired looking and small but everything worked. Breakfast standard English, and because it was always same man, you could say "the usual" after the second day. Only had one evening meal, standard English fare, plenty of it and good quality but a little expensive (we did not have a package price). We went to a conference at Floral Hall, this is a 15min walk away. Similar distance to Lord Street where there are restaurants to suit all pockets. The hotel has free entry to a modern leisure centre about 5min walk away, which influenced our decision to book, but we had no time to try it. more
