My wife and I stayed for one night at the hotel we throughly enjoyed our stay, the fact that the price we paid included the spa and pool facilities was a huge bonus. The only fault I had was the room we stayed in seemed to be quite cramped although very clean and our evening meal wasn't the greatest, other... More

This hotel is so so nice. The staff are really friendly. Check in was faultless and quick. The decor is like going back in time (which isnt a bad thing) and the main seated area is so relaxing and luxurious. We stayed on the 2nd floor and the room was really nice and the bathroom was beautiful. Well done to... More

Top marks ! I have to laugh at people who comment saying its dated. That's like ordering a vintage car and stating its dated ! Or buying an antique ornament and saying its too old. Its a Victorian Promenade hotel, what do you expect, Lool ! Got a good deal on line. Put a little request in on my booking... More

Stayed this weekend and decided on Royal Clifton due to location. Went well from start. Check in was efficient. Room clean and well equipped. Bathroom fine but small. Check out equally efficient. Didn't eat or drink at hotel but would certainly stay again

Needing lunch in Southport we decided to go to the royal Clifton. The car park in front of the hotel is labelled as being theirs so we displayed my wife's blue badge (she is severely disabled and in a wheelchair) and went in for lunch. A few days later we received a parking fine notice for £100. It appears that... More

I was the guest speaker on the subject of Gertrude Bell at a meeting for 130 ladies in the Balmoral Suite at the Royal Clifton hotel. We were served High Tea which was excellent. From dainty Sandwiches to scones with real cream and fresh strawberries to a selection of scumptious cakes. The only thing that marred it was the dreadful... More

A large hotel which probably had its best years during the Late Victorian/Edwardian era. There are some interesting photos in the foyer showing this.A prime situation for seeing what Southport has to offer. The hotel has been refurbished rather than modernised and seems to cater for group bookings and weddings etc.as well as individual travellers. The staff were efficient and helpful. The buffet breakfast... We stayed here with children. The rooms are ok, a little grotty and the hotel does need modernisation. We had a lot of minor issues, and these were sorted out. There never seemed to be enough staff on duty. We waited along time to check-in, as the receptionist was juggling the phone, reception & other jobs. In the Conservatory Bar,... More
