Although the view was fantastic, the room warm and the beds clean, the rest was dire. I don't think that the individual rooms have been updated since the 1960's. The bathroom was mouldy, shower curtain grubby, didn't like the look of the shower head so didn't use it. Stained carpet, covered by a strategically placed rug. Curtains hanging off therefore... more

We booked this hotel online before reading the reviews, which would have definitely put us off had we read them first. I rang the hotel before travelling and the lady who answered the phone assured us that the issues about cleaniness have been addressed and she booked us in a seaview room, so we went ahead with the stay and... more

The hotel was very run down. In desperate need of redecoration and an uplift. There were holes in the curtains when closed. I have made a complaint to the Wales Tourist Board which is ongoing. It does not meet the descriptin on the website. Yes there are tea/coffee making facilities. Yes there is a trouser press! The car park is... more

Although I didn't stay in the hotel, I did visit for Sunday lunch on Mother's Day, but my God what a terrible experience. We went into the restaurant and it was deserted (should have read the signs then and ran), because when the meal arrived I almost threw up there and then. The plate was full of 3 types of... more

Tenby itself is a sleepy fishing town, and must not be alikened to any other town in Wales or UK for that matter. We know UK weather is not always kind, but if you are in Tenby on a warm sunny day you would question why do you go abroad. As for the Royal Lion Hotel, it is located in... more

What can I say, the place looked clean but there was no heating in the room, the shower was so small I couldn't even turn around. The food was terrible, I ordered chicken and it was like rubber (waited over 40mins) and the chips was just solid. The vinegar had ants floating in there and when I complained the reception... more

Stayed at this hotel in April 08 for one night. Hotel is extremely dated and the decor is circa 1970s.Reception is OK and the staff reasonably helpful. The room however left a lot to be desired. The bay window had so many gaps that the wind was howlling through it.Some attempt had been made to stop this by stuffing paper tissues into... more

Stayed Saturday and Sunday nights in July 2007. Staff were polite and helpful. The view over the harbour from the 1st floor sea-view window was a wonderful greeting. Room was spacious and clean, although as is the nature of hotels of this age, could perhaps have done with some re-decoration. Hotel parking was available (an important factor in Tenby). Did... more
