Nice quiet location and not too far out from the centre. Some may find this hotel rather old fashioned but its comfortable enough with freindly proprietors and a good breakfast. Good basic accomodation at a sensible price.

Thank you for your review - I am so glad that you found us old fashioned as this is exactly how we wanted to be - old fashioned "good service" old fashioned "plentiful breakfast" and as we have won a coverted Breakfast award good quality as well, and old fashioned comfort. Not sure which room this guest had but we... More

I lose track. Is this my fourth or my fifth stay here? I have no plans for it to be my last, that's for sure. This visit was another family holiday, staying in the self-catering Beech Cottage, but taking advantage of Sue's wonderful cooking in the hotel proper for both breakfast and dinner. The Darnley is a major reason (perhaps... More

We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay here in this traditional family-run hotel. Everyone we met (Sue, Derek and Michelle) was friendly and courteous in a genuine way but which was also not at all intrusive - just the right balance. We were also made to feel that we could ask for anything extra we might need, and were... More

We were met with a warm freindly welcome. The Hotel had a cosy feel, so we felt relaxed straight away. Our room was clean, spacious with a lovely comfy bed. All we needed was in our room and if we needed, we just had to ask. There was a bar if wanted a drink. The breakfast was spot on and catered... More

We stayed here for one night during our last minute Ilfracombe getaway. The hotel itself is completely immaculate and the owners could not have done more to make us feel welcome. I would *unhesitatingly* recommend this hotel! I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for a thoroughly lovely stay.. Thankyou!! :)

We stayed in Beech Cottage, one of two self-catering chalets in the hotel grounds. The chalet was very spacious, clean and well equipped. The grounds are well kept and colourful, a real haven for wildlife and bird watching while you're having your breakfast! The private walkway to the town is a real bonus. Extremely pleasant & welcoming owners and very... More
