We booked this particular hotel after weeks of searching for a venue suitable to stay at with 2 young children as we were attending a wedding at Tunnels Beaches. The website claims (and illustrates pictures) of inviting play areas & relaxing lounge areas, and claims to serve evening meals in sittings for both children & adults. It shows well laid... More

After reading the reviews and arriving in the car park, we nearly turned back. But I'm glad we stayed. The family room was large and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was tiny but clean. We have a one year old daughter and there was a wooden cot ready. The living and breakfast rooms were light and airy and each morning a... More

The Merlin has great hosts and great location. The downstairs looks great and the breakfast was topnotch. For the price I thought it was good value, but the room size was small and a very small on suite, but I probably got good value for money.

My family of 5 stayed here for 2 nights, in a large family room and a small double. The family room (room no 1) was on the first floor and very spacious, although the bathroom was a bit cramped. The small double (room no 10) located at the very top had a great view and was comfortable. Both rooms were... More

Stayed here after the rain became to much for camping . As I was travelling on my own with a four year old and two year old this hotel came as a brilliant break . Delightful playroom for the kids made breakfast and rainy mornings so much easier. Very relaxed homely atmosphere and a good breakfast .Great size family room... More

Having been travelling in Croatia for 3 weeks and landing in reality in London with a thud..I searched for somewhere to escape the heat and found Merlin Court Hotel. What a truly wonderful place. Michael and his wife went out of their way to make us feel welcome and we ended up in a two room apartment style lodging with... More

We came to Ilfracombe for a friends wedding in Tunnel Beaches and only picked this hotel by chance. We arrived very early unannounced but were still able to check in with no problems. Mike and Helen were very welcoming, friendly and polite. The price was great considering the location and the lovely double room we had, not to mention the... More

Stayed here at the Merlin last weekend with my partner and our two boys. Although this is not the ritz it is a small family run hotel with the owners going out of there way to accommodate our needs. The building is beautiful and the boys loved how it looked like a castle! Granted it is need of some tlc... More

It's not the Savoy, I grant you and yes it has been cold, but our family room was great, loads of hot water and an extra heater made our stay very pleasant. It was clean and the breakfast was beautifully cooked with real attention to the Children's breakfasts. I would go back in a jiffy as Mike and his wife... More

We stay in Ilfracombe at least three times a year and have stayed in some lovely places. Since the arrival of our daughter B and B’s are difficult, so we normally rent an apartment. Due to the demand at Easter weekend we unable to find an apartment but after some research we found the website of Merlin Court which offers... More
