My husband and I chose this hotel because of its location, being directly on the seafront & harbour and it definitely delivered on that front..you could practically touch the sea, but sadly that's where the idyllic break went sour. There was no one to greet us on arrival and we had to seek help from a barman who found a... More

Sorry it's a long one but I like to be thorough. When we first arrived at Ilfracombe Harbour we realised the Royal Britannia Hotel is in a fantastic location. When we entered through the back door you're hit with a very strong smell of Chinese food as the kitchen to the connecting restaurant is connected to the hotel and the... More

i work round the country and this has to be the worst dump i`ve stayed in : ( it isn`t a hotel anymore, its a chinese reastaurant with rubbish rooms above, i`m far from being a snob but the furniture was car boot, and the beds handmade with old pallets : / plus if you lose your key, it`s a... This hotel has a great location overlooking the small harbour, but only some of the rooms have the benefit of it so make sure to book one of those. The good size room had a big bay window and was clean, albeit slightly tired. OK breakfast. The prices of the rooms are a bit inflated given the tiredness of the... More

Good points - lovely view of the harbour, friendly bar staff. Bad points - dirty, dated, no wifi or sky, uncomfortable bed which consisted of a soft block of foam on top of a mattress, poor welcome, reception looked like a building site office. The whole room felt really grubby & dated. The £90 per night was not justified &... More

Me and my partner stayed here for one night on the way back from a failed camping trip and would definately stay again! Booked on the day of arrival in August, so VERY surprised at how cheap the room was. Located right on the harbour, plenty of shops and cafes nearby, and (much to my girlfriend's delight) plenty of fishing... More

The room we had had a great view of the harbour, with a four poster bed and a single bed for our Grandson. It was a large comfortable room, although quite old fashioned in its décor. A good shower room though. I thought the service was poor, the first night, arriving late and finding no towels - we used out... More

When checking in at the bar hatch in the hall way we where greeted by a 4 men trying to square up to each other.. Great start! Room was dated and tired ! SKY HD and wi fi both not working !! Mould on the toilet walls was a nice touch.. Not worth the £85 we paid for one night... More

This is rated as poor for several reasons. The first reason is that we stayed in a family room, one of the rooms had bunk beds which slept my two young children in. On the wall next to the bunk beds were wall lights. Unfortunately, these wall lights were very cheap, and the 'face' of the wall light, fell off,... More

This hotel is fantastically located right by the harbour in the middle of the bars and restaurants. It is very basic though. There have obviously been efforts to smarten it up recently but they've not been overly skilfully done. The beds were saggy and a bit tired smelling. But it's price is fair given where it is.
