What we liked: We were given a family room although we had only paid for a Double. It was spacious, clean light and airy. If you are used to neutral, chain hotels you will find Wentworth House more traditional in style. The room had two proper armchairs, such a welcome treat in a hotel for those of us who prefer... Stayed for one night on 26th July with my brother in law as we passed through North Devon. My first impression was of a large and slightly jaded 19th Century building that was a grand semi detached house in its day. However I was pleasantly surprised to find the inside was large yet cosy and ops fashioned in a pleasantly... More

Not for those who want that level of luxury, so if you go after reading this and still complain, you are not very bright! What you will get is some good old fashioned and very rare Engilsh hospitality of the highest level. Sharon and her family are very genuine and hard working and make this a must place to use... More

What a lovely old fashioned hotel. Very clean, room was spacious. Bathroom very modern. Amazing cooked breakfast, even better than mine and I'm good! Sharon is a lovely friendly host, most enjoyable stay.

We stayed for two nights recently and enjoyed a warm welcome and clean, comfortable if a little dated room. Special arrangements were made for a very early breakfast prior to our fishing trip on Saturday morning. Obviously the place has been running for a good few years but it is everything you need and expect of a traditional seaside hotel... More

I, ve read other reviews of the Wentworth and frankly I think my wife and I must inhabit a parallel universe because we found this place to be clean yes, but it smelt of chip fat on our arrival. Geoff to be surly and unwelcomeing, as for the room it was like something from a time warp. I doubt if... More

We booked through late rooms and had a brilliant stay, they totally under sell what they provide. The hotel is warm, cosy and very friendly. Sharon is a godsend of information and is a grreat host. The room was too comfy if anything and the whole place very relaxed. The pool room is a great assett, it gives you somewhere... More

A holiday can be made or broken by where you stay.Perhaps this is why we have stayed at Wentworth House for 5 of the past 6 years.Always greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from geoff, sharon and her lovely mum.Rooms are spacious, well furnished, comfortable and spotlessly clean.Breakfast is tasty and filling with choices on offer to suit all tastes. All of this... We generally stay at modern hotel chains throughout Continental Europe as I find the standard similar. As we mainly stay as stop overs, I find this comforting as you tend to know what you’re getting. If not for my friends who have a caravan in nearby Woolacombe, we would probably have never come across this very beautiful part of Devon,... More

We stayed at the Wentworth house twice; either side of our trip to Lundy & have nothing but praise. Our first morning we were in a bit of a panic as the ferry had been cancelled & we had to be at the port ready for the bus to the helecopter at 9am. This meant that we didn't have time... More
