The Elmfield is a real gem in Ilfracombe; Zoe and her family have really thought everything through: from our beer on arrival, the family room with Wii and DVDs, a fantastic restaurant and funky bar with a great wine selection. Our room was really comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated - though not five star in quality the design more than... more

Our little girl loved the warm swimming pool (the only private pool in town apparently). The room was comfortable but the food was really very good. I loved breakfast! We went mackerel fishing from the harbour and the chef served up the catch for the children's supper - brilliant! Would recommend the hotel highly and definitely stay again if we... more

We've stayed at this hotel 4 times now and it gets better every time. Zoe, Matt, their boys and staff are welcoming and do everything to ensure an amazing stay. The food is seriously yummy, and the rooms are both elegant and cosy - I particularly loved the 4 poster room I had during a previous visit!. My 2 year... more

I stayed at the Emfield with my partner and young son and were really impressed with the hotel. Matt and Zoe were extremely welcoming and the food was excellent. It was nice to be greeted with a place matt, knife and fork for our 1 year old son as dinner and breakfast. Very thoughtful. Swimming pool was nice, which we... more

I have stayed at The Elmsfield a couple of times now and I have been really impressed how by how relaxed and enjoyable my stays has been. I have stayed there with my two young children and the hotel lived up to its claim to be a family hotel. The owners were extremely accomodating to our needs, the pool was... more

I am writing this review, as I was pleasantly suprised by the atmosphere of this little gem. I found it online and booked using their simple online booking page. I am not exactly famous for my planning and research, which is why on arriving at The Elmfield to be met by Zoe and shown to our room, my partner and... more

My girlfiend is mad about boutique hotels, and being a dutiful boyfriend I go along and pretend to enjoy the uncomfortable chairs and snotty staff. I was expecting exactly that at the Elmfield, but was really happy to find the opposite. I’m no design aficionado but the décor seemed very tasteful yet it was really comfy. Our room was warm... more

The Elmfield was not quite what I had in mind, I thought it would be all designer this and wallpaper that. Well it wasn’t. It was very homely, very friendly and really really relaxing. The food portions where not massive – but this was amply made up for with the taste and beautiful presentation. My room was not massive –... more

The Elmfield was chosen by my wife for a short break during half term. I was actually dreading it – a family hotel sounded awful even as a parent, how pleasant it felt to be wrong. My favourite thing about this hotel was the great breakfast – huevos rancheros or ‘eggs americano’ as they call it is one of my... more

Ilfracombe is very nice itself, the hotel was not so nice, arrived at the hotel , found the staff very unwelcoming, was persuaded in to having dinner that evening which turned out to be a ridiculous tiny portion tasting event , the portions were so small and not worth the money they charge at all, way way over priced be warned !
