Our first visit to the restaurant was in 2008 when Lydie opened specially for a birthday dinner for three. Since then, we have returned several times for intimate dinners with friends. Last year Lydie accommodated 24 for another and special birthday celebration. The ambience is warm and welcoming, homely and relaxing. The food is always superb, and we appreciate the... More

A very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Interesting house .The rooms were delightful and the complimentary single malt a lovely touch. The views from the bedrooms were stunning and the walks nearby lovely. We booked this hotel partly because of the reviews of the food. We were surprised to find that the two nights we were there, Monday and Tuesday, that... More

Stayed for 2 nights while visiting the area for a wedding. We were made to feel at home straight away! The room was fantastic with great views and, my favourite part, a wee decanter of whisky on the dressing table refilled every day! The breakfast was without a doubt one of the best I've had at a B&B, 4 courses... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in a Twin Room last weekend. The staff are warm and friendly especially the English lady who served us breakfast the second morning. As well as a decanter of a lovely single malt in your room there is a gorgeous sitting room where you can enjoy a dram in front of an open fire.... More

I can't get over how amazing this place is. We were staying in a double room for 2 nights. The staff were so warm and relaxed that we really felt at home. We had a small whisky decanter and 2 tumblers waiting for us in the room - a real Scottish welcome :) The view was stunning; we were asked... More

We have stayed here several times over a period of ten years. This latest trip was to celebrate our wedding anniversary. As usual we received a warm welcome from Lydie. We were served up a beautiful dinner having been first presented with a special personalised menu and a glass of fizz in front of a roaring log fire. You are... More

Our most recent visit to the Auld Aliiance was to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Although we only live a 5-minute drive away we had decided to stay the night. to make more of an occasion of it, knowing that the rooms would be sure to be of the same high standard as the food. We could not have been... More

We had an unforgettable evening meal at the Auld Alliance some years ago and resolved then and there that one day we would stay the night. The opportunity arose recently and we checked it was still the same owner and booked up. We had a very nice room with a stunning view, the welcome and the hospitality were warm and... More

Three couples stopped here for one night on our way north. We had read about the B & B on Trip Advisor and decided to try. We were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome on arrival and throughout the remainder of our stay Lydie and her staff were most helpful and attentive. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Prior to... More

Stayed two nights with a friend. Lydie was very friendly, the house is beautiful and spotlessly clean, and the food was outstanding. Our five course meal lasted two hours, each course a delicacy beautifully made and quite delicious. Will definitely return.
