Our party of four had an entirely enjoyable and comfortable stay at this hotel in early February 2008. The staff were extremely courteous, helpful and cheerful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was excellent and plentiful, and our pre-arranged trips with Cairngorm were excellent. We will definitely return to the Duke in the future. more

After reading previous reviews I was very sceptical about visiting this hotel. A party of 12 of us (50+) travelled with Cairngorm Travel to the Duke of Gordon. We were late arriving but received a very warm welcome from the manageress and were shown to our rooms before dinner. The rooms were immaculately clean - basic but plenty of room.... more

I stayed with my mother as part of a long weekend reunion of a group of elderly people and their families. This event happens every two years and has always been held at the Duke of Gordon. The stay was fine: the hotel was warm and welcoming, and the staff (as others have said, nearly all non-British) were extremely obliging.... more
We have been to a few 'suspect' hotels, but never as bad as this. I suppose if you want to be herded, it's fine to be there. The food was nice, but if you didn't want to suffer from indigentsion, it's not the place to be. The main meal in the evening was like a race. You felt that you... more
Picture the scene. A couple enjoying their first valentine's day together in the snow of the Scottish Highlands. Sounds nice doesn't it? That's what I thought. I found the Duke of Gordon on the Laterooms website and looked at the reviews and the hotel's own website. It looked great. I booked it three weeks before the break for three nights.... more
The hotel was very welcoming with a roaring fire in the lobby as you walked in. The decor is a bit passe with swirly carpets and floral bed linen etc but it kind of works in the Highlands because you need comfort and cosiness. The lift is rather slow and clunky too but it adds to the Celtic charm! The... more
