The hotel is in the centre of Kinguissie overlooking a park. The car park is at the rear of the hotel. Our room was well furnished, clean and comfortable. All over the hotel they have lovely, comfortable wooded armchairs. On the ground floor the restaurant is great with white linen tablecloths, candelabra and waiter service in the evening. There is... The rooms are ok, the problem is not all rooms has access through lift, some of them only is possible by stairs. It' s old hotel that needs to improve some aspects. The food is normal, but not very good, it's short in the breakfast.

Very rude staff. We had a meal and straight away noticed the customer service was dreadful. I had to return my daughters meal qs it was cold. The staff member huffed and puffed and im sure if she could have she would have blown my house down. Visited with my wife and child and were made to feel most unwelcome.... More

From the time we checked in to the time we left (we were here two days and nights ) most of the staff were not friendly or helpful. I will mention the 2 exceptions to this review: a young brunette female bartender and a very young male server in the dining room. Maybe they had not been here long enough... More

Walked in with four children and five adults and wanted to book two seperate tables. There were plenty of tables and we spotted at least two that were not reserved. The restaurant staff kicked off such a fuss as we hadn't booked. Staff told us that we had to telephone beforehand despite there being plenty of unoccupied tables. Walked out... More

Reading some reviews before our stay I did wonder what our room would be like. After checking in we were taken to our room through the ballroom and downstairs and this did nothing to stop me wondering what the room would be like. When the door opened we were shown to our room which was a suite - living room,... More

The hotel is a beautiful old building and the room we had was really nice. The bathroom was spotlessly clean but the food let them down badly, the breakfast was supposed to be a buffet breakfast but one of the kitchen staff served the food and he was very sparing with the portion he served and the food was stewed... Decided to go here as very little choice in Kingussie for an evening meal. Looked very nice from outside, but went downhill rapidly after entering " Gillies".We had already reserved a table. We placed our order and then had to wait over 3/4 hour for our first course to arrive. Knew something was wrong when staff kept peeping round corner... More

We called in for dinner on two evenings whilst staying at Kingussie. On both occasions, we were impressed with the quality of the food and the pleasant, helpful staff. Great value for money - heartily recommended.

This was one of the stops along our travels during a study-abroad trip to Northern Ireland and Scotland in summer 2015. We stopped here after leaving Glasgow heading north through the highlands and up the coast to the ferry over to the Orkney Islands. I am a huge history buff and I loved everything about this hotel! My roommate and... More
