The hotel was quite tired, and the lift was extremely slow. Overall it was value for money as it was bed and breakfast and a 4 course dinner. The food was very nice and they served some of the best haggis I have ever had. The hotel would be a great base for sightseeing. The staff were all very friendly.

Cold, unfriendly uninspiring bland and lack luster experience. Mediorce food from a ill thought of menu. Typical fare of a big establishment that considers bought in cheap n cheerful to be better than having skilled inspired staff. The hotel caters for coach parties and mass catering and it shows. The food was not even filling let alone hot nor tasty.... More

The hotel looks good at first, Queen Victoria is a former guest, but if she was there now she would not be amused, the room was quite small and the shower room was tiny, the dining room was catering mainly for coach parties, the first meal was poor and the rest average, there was not enough staff and the organisation... Had an evening meal at this hotel whilst in the highlands staff were pleasant but the menu let it down not enough local produce or Scottish specialities I had the duck which was nice but my bh had salmon which was very dry and had a strange choice of vegetables but it was the dessert that really let this down... We chose Kingussie as a stopping point between Inverness and Newtonmore for a one night stay. It is an old hotel and that has a certain charm. The front desk staff were very kind and attentive. The hotel is laid out in a choppy fashion that makes it difficult to maneuver luggage around, up short flights of stairs and then... More

On arrival the outside is very dated in a good way and period looking. Lovely entrance with a real Scottish feel about it. We are not hard to please and just look for simple things like clean room, comfy bed and a decent bar so all boxes were ticked. breakfast a great selection and bar service great with very reasonable... Warm and efficient welcome. Room, especially its servicing, good. Also communal areas. Food of wide variety, well cooked and presented, served with quiet, pleasant efficiency by patient staff for whom nothing seemed too much trouble. Attentive reception and management-knew nearly everything, & didn't miss much. Entertainment?? (Mostly a bit flat, guests choosing disengagement. Would have preferred a radio in my... More

Thank you for taking the time to review the Duke of Gordon Hotel and for your kind comments regarding all the team. With regard to the television reception within the hotel we do at times find that reception is affected by the weather which can be frustrating for which we apologise. I do hope you will visit the hotel and... More

Our coach trip stayed in the hotel for six nights. The food was excellent, all the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. A very enjoyable stay. Can't wait to go back.

We have just returned from a 2 night break at The Duke of Gordon Hotel. The Hotel itself was very clean and the room we stayed in was lovely (229). The bath was chipped in places but apart from that the room was very clean, the room service was very good and we had a lovely view. The staff at... More

Thank you for taking the time to review the Duke of Gordon Hotel and for your kind comments regarding all the team here at the hotel. I am sorry that the bath in your room was chipped, this is an unfortunate downside to having solid cast enamel baths. Occasionally they do get chipped and it is not so easy to... More

Stayed two nights bed and breakfast. Our room was large with a nice view of the hills. The bed was so comfortable. Breakfast tasty, hot and cold buffet. Mainly geared up for coach parties but a nice break never the less. Would have no hesitation in going back.
