My wife and I stayed here for one night on DBB basis on our way home from a holiday in the Scottish highlands. The Cross is advertised as a "Restaurant with Rooms" but what I would say is it is virtually just a small hotel. We were met by Katie, one of the owners, and the welcome could not have... More

Staying here is like being at the home of a special friend. The family that runs The Cross are beyond warm and friendly, they put you at ease and spoil you. The dinner and breakfast are first class. The service is classy. Hands down the nicest B&B we stayed in More

Lovely setting and excelllent service. Food was high quality and inventive. However after paying £50 per person (set price) I felt that an additional £5 per person for a coffee and two chocolates at the end of the meal was just a rip off. More

Our second visit to The Cross just endorsed our original high opinion of food, wine and staff! We haven't stayed in the rooms - so can't comment on those, but the welcome is wonderfully warm! We enjoyed a fantastic meal (I can't believe the bitter chocolate tart could ever be surpassed.....and the scallops were a dream!) and some decent wine... More

Just back from a 2nd visit to The Cross. Last time we visited with friends and got a taxi back home but this time we stopped for the night on the way back from Edinburgh. Couldn't really have been much better. The food was fantastic and we left the wine choice to Katy who recommended two organic wines - one... More

My wife and I went for our first wedding anniversary and oils not have been better looked after! The room was ample sized with a massive, very comfy bed and relaxing sounds of the river outside. The highlight however was the food and wine! We have eaten in one and two Michelin star restaurants and were not disappointed by the... More

A last minuite booking made by friends for a party of 9. We only stayed 1 night thank goodness, this is not a 4* hotel the food was ok but not worth a set price of £50! The rooms are basic & need a face lift. The staff are the most bossyest people I have met it was like being... More

As we all do and having read other reviews it would be easy to follow a thread about room quality versus dining experience BUT as an overall impression The Cross delivers everything for the price paid , once you get to know it. Outstanding food , not the same food, a daily changing menu that was served impeccably , comfortable... More

Just stayed at this little gem hidden in a mini glen at the edge of Kingussie. You go up the brae and nearly at the top turn left down into a mini glen with the mill at the bottom alongside a beautiful burn. Although in the midst of housing etc it is completely hidden and all that kept buzzing in... More

Owner and staff offer warm friendly welcome and service. However this is not a four star hotel, rooms and common areas all very tired with very poor insulation, noise travelling up through the floor and adjoining rooms. Restaurant food not five star although it does have an extensive wine list. More
