We have stayed here three or four times now. The Cross is a nice place to stay, has personal touches and Katie and David are natural hosts. As other reviewers have noted, the rooms are a little on the dissapointing side for the price, especially bathrooms could do with some renovation. For the money I would expect something a little... more

My wife and I spent only one night at The Cross and wish we had booked to stay longer. Katie and her staff were very welcoming and had a cup of tea ready in not time at all. The bedroom was roomy and comfortable and we were fortunate enough to overlook the burn outside and delighted in the red squirrel... more

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in May08 for our first wedding anniversary. We ate out the first night at a newly opened small bistro (Blasta) in a small town just south of Kingussie - which I would recommend. On the second evening we stayed in for dinner, and the food and wine was of a exceptionally... more

Katie and David are the friendliest yet most professional of hosts. Their clear aim is to provide a fine dining experience in a lovely and relaxed setting . We stayed in room 4 which was exceptionally comfortable (loved the bed) and impeccably clean ; we fell asleep to the gentle sound of the River Gynach as we were able to... more

This seems to be a very popular place, but I think that may be due to a lack of options in the tiny village of Kingussie. It's perfectly adequate as a hotel, but not somewhere you'd go to as a destination as such. Our room sounded like it was on top of a giant washing machine that was constantly on.... more

At The Cross we recieved a warm & friendly welcome to this fabulous family run restaurant with rooms. The reception area doubles up as a pre-dining lounge where you can peruse the menu of the evening & enjoy a drink. A Gin & Tonic here is unlike anywhere else, being offered several brands to choose from & we sampled a... more

Having been to the Cross four times (and counting) I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. It's a haven of comfort, tranquillity and great food in the Central Highlands. Katie and David are fantastic hosts and can't do enough for you. Simply one of the best places to stay and eat in Scotland. more

The Cross is a quiet 'restaurant with rooms' located about 0.5 miles from the town of Kingussie. The hotel staff are all very friendly and more than happy to assist you. We stayed in a Woodland suite, with ensuite. The room had a small dressing table, tv, cd and radio. There were no in-house tea and coffee facilities, which was... more

Hi - this isn't a complaint about the tone of the review, for which inevery respect we are very grateful for and interested in, but rather just a small but (too us, as we take locality, freshness and seasonality of produce extremely seriously) very important correction! The lamb that your reviewer mentioned had not at all travelled the length of...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights as an early celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary. We had expected good things and were not disappointed. We didn't book one of the more expensive rooms, but found the one we had was everything we could have wanted. As well as a television and radio, there were cd's of Scottish... more
