I was both intrigued and a little disturbed by a previous reviewers negative comments and finally felt moved to pen my own appraisal. Cost: The price of the room your reviewer booked was £108 per night, including tax. For that, the room was freshly decorated this year and has been newly furnished. The Cross is situated in a romantic spot, just above the river and is very atmosferic. The rooms are spotless clean, not big but cute. The lounge was atmosferic too and the restaurant superb. more
If you seek excellent service, beautiful surroundings, fantastic food, amazing wine and the best of Highland Hospitality, go to The Cross. You wont be disapointed. more

This seems to be a very popular place, but I think that may be due to a lack of options in the tiny village of Kingussie. It's perfectly adequate as a hotel, but not somewhere you'd go to as a destination as such. Our room sounded like it was on top of a giant washing machine that was constantly on.... more
