My husband and I spend two nights at The Cross, which is run by a husband and wife team. The grounds are lovely and the room was small, but tastefully appointed. We ate dinner at the restaurant our second night - the food was good, but the service was chilly and there was a family with a young boy who... More

We booked into this delightful bijou hotel as we wanted to try the highly-rated restaurant. It was all we hoped for, and more! From the warm welcome to the superb evening meal and breakfast, the whole experience was totally memorable.Set next to a beautiful river and nestling among trees which are home to red squirrels, the hotel was historically a... We stopped overnight on the way up to Orkney and wish it had been longer. Very appealing position on the banks of a stream: charming, well appointed rooms and a, warm welcome . As we were arriving too late for the evening meal [most regrettably] we were just glad to crash out with a pot of tea in our rooms... More

We had a great night on our way north. The food is truly amazing and certainly worth choosing the tasting menu! From the amuse bouche to the Lobster, the soup to the two delicious desserts ( soufflé was divine!), from the scallop cooked to perfection to the variety of homemade rolls, we were treated to a top quality dinner. Our... More

Stayed here en route to a holiday in the Highlands. The choice was determined by the prospect of some good food and a pleasant place to stay, we were not disappointed. Tried the tasting menu, faultless, the wine choices were sublime and the whole evening memorable. Stayed over in one of the rooms really comfortable and were made to feel... More

With a little trepidation and some concern that we would leave the table hungry, we stayed here one night en route for home in June 2014. The room was clean and fresh-looking. I had requested the riverside room as I wanted to hear the sound of the water - I loved that. The hotel is convenient for the town but... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, lovely ambiance. Nice open bright feel to the place and lovely views outside to the river and lots of greenery. The owners are very friendly and helpful - provided us with sandwiches in our room early afternoon although not on the menu. The restaurant is spacious, open and bright with lovely paintings on the walls.... More

Looking for a late break a month ago. Very good room - with the balcony. The tasting menu with the wines was superb, good range of whisky for afterwards. Excellent breakfast the following morning. Looking forward to the next time

My husband and I spent one night in the room with the balcony which was very nice . The restaurant was very cold and sad I felt with a fitted kitchen as a bar . The food was fantastic until the main course when the food became very fussy and tasteless . The cheese selection was poor for the price... More

We spent the last night of a Highlands and Islands jaunt here and it made a memorable finale. The spacious room, with a small balcony, over looking the pleasantly burbling burn, was delightful and had the most comfortable bed of the fortnight. The floor show by the burn from the resident grey wagtails and dippers was most welcome, as was... More
