Stayed here for two nights dinner, bed and breakfast during a snowy couple of days. We chose the cross on the basis of its entry in the good food guide and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. We received a very warm and friendly welcome and were even given a free room upgrade which was a very pleasant surprise! The bedroom... More

This is the third time we have stayed at the Cross, but the first under the present owners. Derek and Sheila were very welcoming and we were even asked, when we booked, whether we still preferred sheets and blankets on the bed rather than a duvet, which shows the handover from the previous owners has been done with care for... We booked in for one night's Dinner, Bed and Breakfast on the strength of an insatiable desire to get into the Cairngorms, an appetite for some excellent food and a mention of the Cross in 'best restaurants in Scotland' article. We took a punt on it, and no regrets. The Cross is located in a quiet back street of Kingussie,... More

This is a lovely spot. Helpful owners. Situated walking distance to the village. The rooms are very nice, with the restful sound of a babbling brook in the background. Lovely paintings in the dining room. The breakfast was excellent Evening meals were unfortunately noit available, but we were warned of thism via email in advance. The menu does look great... More

We stayed here for one night and booked online at the last minute following a disappointment with a holiday cottage in the area. We found The Cross recommended as a 'restaurant with rooms' in 'Scotland the Best' and as we usually find this to be a very reliable guide we decided to stay. The online booking system was easy and... More

Just discovered this hotel. Very comfortable clean bedrooms, great showers and a delightful lounge to relax in. The dinners are superb and though it says there are 3 courses in the evening another 2 are added on - amuse bouche and a small soup. Beautifully presented, balanced and well worth the price. My only crit is that the hotel was... More

We were truly wowed by the appearance of the property as we drove down the slope to it. We had booked a kingsize double with river view and had been allocated the only room with a small balcony overlooking the stream on one side of the hotel. Sun was shining so everything looked wonderful. We logged on to the free... More

The Cross is a pleasant destination with clean rooms, even if a little small. Afternoon tea was refreshing. Dinner was "fine dinning." Offerings were small and somewhat exotic but nicely presented. It was a nice (although somewhat expensive) experience and not one for everyday. We are glad we visited but once was probably would not return.

Stayed here for a couple of nights earlier this summer. The restaurant was nice and the food was of good quality although the atmosphere was pretty strained with a mix of couples staying at the hotel, dining room guests, and unfortunately for us a very large family with two young children who were not on their best behavior. Overall the... More

We stayed at The Cross in September on the recommendation of some friends and we loved it. The room was lovely and very comfortable and there is a large, living area with couches and chairs for the guests as well. The high point was the three course dinner with marvelous choices. I had asked for a vegan meal and the... More
