Having been to the Cross four times (and counting) I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. It's a haven of comfort, tranquillity and great food in the Central Highlands. Katie and David are fantastic hosts and can't do enough for you. Simply one of the best places to stay and eat in Scotland. more

The Cross is a quiet 'restaurant with rooms' located about 0.5 miles from the town of Kingussie. The hotel staff are all very friendly and more than happy to assist you. We stayed in a Woodland suite, with ensuite. The room had a small dressing table, tv, cd and radio. There were no in-house tea and coffee facilities, which was... more

Hi - this isn't a complaint about the tone of the review, for which inevery respect we are very grateful for and interested in, but rather just a small but (too us, as we take locality, freshness and seasonality of produce extremely seriously) very important correction! The lamb that your reviewer mentioned had not at all travelled the length of...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights as an early celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary. We had expected good things and were not disappointed. We didn't book one of the more expensive rooms, but found the one we had was everything we could have wanted. As well as a television and radio, there were cd's of Scottish... more

What a friendly and cosy athmosphere throughout the entire house. And additionally what a superb cooking and service. We would be most happy to have such a "CHEF" in most of our restaurants-hotels in Germany. Regrettable that we could only stay for 3 days at the end of our tour thru Scotland. We have stayed at the Cross many times during the last 4 years and have enjoyed consistently high standards friendliness, cleanliness and superb food. Would recommend to anyone who is used to London high quality and finds it difficult to get elsewhere... Can't wait to find time to go back. more

We (me, my partner and my 12yr old son) booked the last room, very last minute to stay for their 3 day package for Hogmanay. We were blown away by the helpfulness of Katie and her staff, they couldn't have done enough for us. Our room was one of the twin rooms and they put in a full size Z-bed... more

A really nice hotel with a fabulous restaurant. Friday nights meal was one of the best we have experienced. The restaurant had a pleasant ambience with its feature fire, well spaced tables, attentive, friendly staff and serene atmosphere. The room was fresh, comfortable and overlooked the river. It was a good size for us with all the facilites you would... more

We couldn't fault our stay here. It is not a grand hotel with all the bells and whistles of service but rather a small, intimate restaurant with rooms and the emphasis is on the food. We were welcomed by the proprietor who made us feel right at home. Our room was clean, tidy and neat. Nothing grand but everything in... more

Having stayed here in July '04 my wife and I were looking forward to our return visit. We were extremely disapointed. A warm welcome, but no tea and biscuits as before. At £150 for two people for one night the room was a complete let down and was way overpriced, particularly as we had used another restaurant with rooms the... more

The Cross is a 3 AA rosette restaurant set on the steep banks of a rushing highland torrent. Inside it is warm, friendly and is a destination restaurant in the area. The rooms are basic, with a small tv and sloping ceilings but people come here for the food. The restaurant is more like someone's dining room, with pastel colours... more
