The staff gave the impression they resented giving any kind of service and a waitress verged on being offensive. The food was quite appalling, served on stone cold plates our steak and ale pie (said to be home made but clearly not) was mostly gristle and virtually inedible. The manager was fairly reasonable when the shortcomings of his establishment was... more

While there are no overwhelming complaints, the overall experience was less than optimal. The room was large but decorated in a very outdated chintz, the bed was creaky and old, and the carpet had a musty smell. Still, the bathtub was a large jucuzzi tub, which was a nice touch. Hopefully they will update the room to match the bathroom.... more

Our only regret about the Scot House was only staying for one night. The staff was friendly, we had a lovely meal in the restaurant, and the room was large and bright. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, just wish it had been longer. more

Went here for a last min one night in January, thought it was a lovely hotel with real charm and Scottish feel about it. Colin and Helen the owners were great hosts and really made us feel welcome, ended up having a good banter and drink round the bar till quite late with them, so that was really nice. Thought... more

Absolutely excellent. Have stayed their previously, and on this occassion took my wife to accompany me on a business trip. Superb value for money, well furnished rooms and public areas, with a warm welcome. Local facilities are 'quiet' at this time of year, but was a charming place to stop over away from the bustle of Inverness. Just off the... more

Stayed 3 nights at the hotel with my son in October to play golf (not the best season !!). Lovely, spacious and comfortable room (nr 2, first floor, left when facing the hotel, BEST room I guess), good beds, very nice bathroom with jacuzzi. Tastefull decoration of the whole hotel. The restaurant and bar food is good. Very good value.... more

This small hotel was a real treat in early December, arriving very late after a long drive we were given a really warm welcome. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was traditional, well cooked and presented, porage was available. The warm welcome and kind support marks this hotel as one that deserves a return visit. more

Great value, the owner is a character if you want to have a few drinks over the bar. The room was clean and big enough, the bathroom worked quite well. Noticed a few of the comments below and thought I should clarify for people: - We paid GBP64 for a couple with breakfast. Not sure what people expect for this,... more

I stayed at The Scot House in March 06 during the off season. It was a very pleasant stay, and I would certainly book there again. The room room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and fairly priced. The food was outstanding. And the hospitality of the hosts, Colin and Helen, was delightful. In looking for a central location that would give... more

The Scot House is ideally located, just 40 miles from Inverness, in the Cairngorm National Park and easy driving distance to pretty much everything in the Highlands. Our hosts Helen and Colin were an absolute delight and made us feel right at home. The Scot House itself was beautifully restored, has its own very respectable restaurant and a bar where... more
