On first arrival the hotel looked exactly as expected and we were happy with our choice. The main restaurant was pleasant, as was the lounge area, and everything was very clean and nicely kept... until we got to our room. Sadly this was a real let-down, it was dark, had no outlook and smelled of wet dogs and drains. We... More

This is a very rustic, very basic place. If you know this in advance, and adjust your expectations accordingly, that will help. (To give you a flavor, your room key will be a key--not card--attached to a very large block of wood--with your room named after something found on a farm.) I think the best thing about Columba House Hotel... More

Thought we were running out of options with other places in the area closing down, but glad we discovered this. This was our second stay, forgot to review first time. It's a little bit of a hike into town but not bad, the last bit of the walk back through the grounds has lights along the path, but they always... More

I must admit that I should maybe have phoned ahead to clarify what the definition of 'dog-friendly' is. I didn't expect that my dog (and effectively, me) would not be able to use any of the hotel facilities outwith the room. So, I have an OK room with shared facilities (which is fine and includes a fridge a kettle). Luckily... More

We arrived for a two night stay and were greeted by Yolande. She took us to our room in the courtroom which was requested as we had a dog. The room was small and very tired. It was also a dark room. The room badly needed decorating. The bathroom looked not too bad and after a busy day walking we... More

Columa House is easy to find and we had a warm welcome. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean with everything we needed. We ate in the restaurant and the food was very, very good. Nice menu and beautifully cooked and presented. Breakfast ws very good too. The main part of the hotel is very old and decor and... More

Stayed for one night and booked dinner in the Garden resteraunt. Positives: Good location in the village which is perfect for taking a break on a long journey. Very friendly greeting on arrival All staff were super attentive and friendly, didn't realise that we were served for dinner by the owner Yolanda who really does make the effort. Food during... This former manse is in a lovely peaceful setting. We were welcomed and enjoyed a delicious evening meal in the garden restaurant - the menu was a little bit different from the normal with South African influences. Breakfast was good and set us up for our journey north to visit Speyside Cooperage and Glenfiddich distillery. Would definitely recommend for a... More

I spent four nights at the Columba House Hotel with my family, on our first visit to this beautiful part of Scotland. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The hotel is owned by a lovely couple, Yolanda and Mark, who run the hotel almost like a home. There is a great team of staff, offering the same friendly, homey service.... More
