I came away to get a break from chaos at home. The welcome was friendly, the public rooms and garden are absolutely lovely, the food both at dinner and breakfast I would class as exceptional. The single room was rather Spartan but I understand that a lot of the others are very good and Mark (I confirm what the others... More

We dined here on two occasions. Mark, the South African chef, is both experienced and capable and working to present good local food well cooked without pretension. He will chat to each guest and discuss menus. He made for me a delicious risotto, not on the menu, but discussed the previous evening to fit my dietary requirements. The restaurant has... More

Very happy with this find in Kingussie. Standard of the service was excellent. The facilities are bound to get even better under the ownership of Mark who is also an excellent chef. Mark and his staff looked after us extremely well. Lovely ambience in the restaurant and sitting room. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely stunning location with views that are beautiful. The gardens are straight out of Alice in Wonderland (see if you can spot The Writers Block!) and the service is friendly and helpful. Mark, the owner, advised us of places we could visit without a car (The Highland Wildlife Park is a very short bus ride away and stops right outside... More

I did not stay at this hotel but I recently had a meal there. I couldn't have faulted a single bit of it. I had the venison for my main and it was the best I've had. My companions all enjoyed their meals. Everything was cooked fresh to perfection! Service was good and was nice surroundings. Top marks from me.... More

I stayed in the hotel just for 1 night as I needed a weekend accommodation. I arrived at 4 pm, which I had e-mailed to the hotel. I did have to wait for somebody to come about 10 minutes. A gentleman at the reception asked me, where my car was. I said, that I had arrived by train and would... More
