With a wonderfully warm welcome (both by Julie and the heat from the stove), lovely spacious accommodation, nice breakfasts and a very handy location for day trips around the very impressive Cairngorms, we have no hesitation in recommending Ruthven Steadings to anyone visiting the area.

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed into a wonderfully cozy and warm reception lounge, heated in part by a wood burning stove. The bedroom was massive and very well appointed with all the usually trappings including a super king size bed. Upon arrival Julie made sure we had everything we needed and ensured we had a fresh jug... More

Impossible to find a bad word to say about Ruthven Steadings--John and Julie have every base covered! Not least the fact that they built such a lovely place themselves, which left us feeling feeble and lazy! If you like it quiet but very convenient for good things to do in the Highlands, then this is the place to go. Most... More

Great hosts, rooms and location. Rooms are large, comfortable and clean. The log fire in the hallway makes it very cosy. Breakfast was very generous with homemade jam and bread complimenting the cooking. Nice touches like fresh fruit in the room. Julie is very friendly and helpful. She has a great knowledge of what is on offer in the area.... More

This is our fifth stay here. It is simply wonderful in every way. It is so clean, very spacious and warm and friendly. John and Julie are wonderful hosts. Nothing is too much trouble to them. They will go out of their way to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The breakfasts are to die for and Julie makes... More

We've lost count of the number of times we've stayed with Julie & John either at the B&B or in one of their two self catering lets. Every single time it has been exemplory and I cannot state enough how brilliant their hospitality, facilities, location and overall amazing ability to think of everything enables us to have the best ever... What a wonderful B&B to stay at! Julie was just right in her mail when she said that we wouldn't be disappointed... We stayed here for three nights (the children in The Dairy Room, the parents in The Old Tractor Shed) and would have loved to stay some nights more but we had to leave for Edinburgh. Julie is a... This place has only 2 B&B rooms - other accommodation is self-catering cottages for weekly rental. If available, this is a great place to spend a few days deep in the highlands. We had the 'smaller' of the two rooms, the dairy. It was plenty big enough. Breakfasts are a highlight; either the full Scottish or the wonderful pancakes. Well... More

Thanks to all the previous reviewers, we felt confident booking with Julie & John for good reason. They were lovely people, and their B & B was top notch. The setting is fabulous if you have an aversion to being in a busy city and love being in the country. Kingussie is a wonderful, quaint Highlands town. The morning of... More

We stayed here for 3 nights. It was excellent from the initial warm welcome from Julie to our equally warm farewell and promise to return. Our room (The Old Tractor Shed) was big, comfortable and airy with a massive bed and really big en suite which included a bath and seperate shower. Toiletries & towells were supplied. Along with the... More
